How old is someone at 67?

I think once you hit 80 you are definitely elderly even if 'young'.

80 is never young. Even at 65 people have lost much of their intellectual capacity, particularly in their ability to learn new things and adjust to new situations. Everything slows down for them physically and mentally.

And because they're losing their ability to reason, they don't always realize when they've become a useless bum that is unable to feel or smell that it's time to change their Depends. It's disgusting to be around most people older than 70.

For many on this board who continue to spew their hatred and ageism, I can only hope that when they hit the apparently horribly old age of 65+ they realize how ridiculous they sounded when they were younger.

To imply that people over 65 are useless bums who have no capacity to learn new things is one of the most insulting and disgusting things I’ve ever read and no, I’m not in that age group myself.

We've all know it's true. No one ever wants to work with elderly coworkers. Walmart greeter is right around the typical limit of their capabilities.

Harsh but yes I wouldn’t want to work with someone who’s 67

Over on the menopause board they are debating if 51 is old. They must assume 67 is death bed.

I work with a 58 year old who is struggling to learn new things. To be fair, I don't think it's all her age. I think most of it is a side effect from her weight loss shot.

It was started in 2022, so originally this thread was not about 6-7.
Someone picked it up recently as a joke, given the current meme that has trended.

And 67 is old, but not necessarily elderly. I volunteer with the elderly and I would say half of those in their 70s are still physically active and productive, but half would fall into the elderly category. Usually due to diseases and medical problems. Almost all 80+ are "elderly".

Going from old to elderly can come fast. So many say to me that just a few years ago they were building projects in their garage, managing the maintenance on a large house and acreage, still playing golf, riding bikes, and strenuous hiking. Then suddenly their body and health just decline and now it's a challenge to walk from the house to the car without falling.

PP you are replying to.
I didn’t include it in my original response but my experience that too many people are starting to decline around age 50.
Yes as early as that.
They can hide it, it’s not nice to point it out, it may not be super obvious and of course it doesn’t happen in everyone, but the truth is that age IS a huge statistical factor in things like retaining new info and processing speed!

None of this has anything to do with the fact that 85 is elderly. Your relative is spry and elderly.

67% of their life has happened.
They have 6 or 7 hobbies.
They eat out about 6-7 times a month.
They get around 6 or 7 hours of sleep.

There are very wealthy 67 year olds who consider themselves perfect specimens of health who are at this moment either climbing or planning to climb Mt. Everest for up to 100K

Go in good health, healthy wealthy people

I'm going to watch the news reports from my couch thanks for the entertainment
