When sensible men marry silly women

The wife the OP describes sounds like a very shallow and NOT nice person in general, why are so many people defending her? I mean, you don't have to hate on her, but she definitely sounds vapid.

OP, I get what you are saying, but I don't have any real insight.

OP here. Thank you. Lets just say I know the couple intimately and I am not making up my observations. In fact, I knew her before he was ever in the picture and she has always been obsessed with "moving up" or what have you and was good looking. I always knew she would pull a rich guy, I was surprised to find him apparently intelligent and somewhat kind when really I was expecting someone as insufferable as her.

I will say, he does seem equally interested in status and portraying a certain image and acquiring the "right" things to signal they belong. They both spend a lot of time admiring other, wealthier peoples' habits and tastes to emulate.

+1

I don't think you know that woman (or that man) as well as you think you do, OP.

I read a ton of history and philosophy and I talk about it with men. I have no desire to set myself up for a “well actually.” Women never do that.

So you don’t really know what these women actually talk about.

Well, I talk about it with my husband and family members. But never coworkers or acquaintances.
