The only reasonable source is Bethesda Beat. Otherwise you’ve got WTOP and WaPo. Your neighborhood listserv is also important.

MoCo Show.

And Montgomery Community Media, which is the government, but it does a good job just reporting facts without all the commentary.

LOL. One is literally state media and the other is what I will nicely call “opinion journalism”.

So is BBC and it's way better than anything we have. That's what you get when you let profits rule.

The idea that you would deign to put what is effectively a propaganda outlet of the county government in the same sentence as BBC is a joke, even if BBC is not immune for similar criticism regarding political favoritism.

But the real proof that MyMCMedia is propaganda is that it does not produce any critical reporting. Provide me one example of critical reporting on the council in “MyMCMedia”. I’m not even going to ask about investigative reporting, just critical reporting on a single council member. For example, Bethesda Beat covered Jawando’s failure to appear on his drivers license suspension. Did MyMCMedia? They did not.

You don’t need critical reporting. You need facts and then do the critical thinking yourself.

Thank you for confirming that MyMCMedia is the county equivalent of Fox News. “We report, you decide.”

Fox doesn't report facts though. It's an op/ed only.

We have now found the one and only person outside the county council (assuming you aren’t a CM or work for a CM) that cares about that useless organization that is financial drain on county resources and whose only purpose is for promoting and propogandizing local politicians.

The people who work there aren’t “journalists”.

Riemer and Hucker whose opinions change based on whatever will get them elected. Navarro who's just not that bright. Katz is OK (the only actual businessperson on the Council) but doesnt' seem to stand up for the people much. Albornoz is a ladder-climber but also a yes-man.

Friedson does stuff like question why the county needs to pass toothless resolutions on international affairs for example. (Leave that for Congress please).

I will say that, IME, Hucker is typically very responsive to constituent concerns (I’m in his district). I may not agree with him in everything but I feel like he does listen to people. He’s not eligible for another term though, right?

Imagine shilling for Hucker. Watch a council hearing, if there is one guy that cannot be even bothered to pretend his gives a flying f*ck it’s Hucker.

Hucker, jawando, Hans-- All these bozos need to be voted out!!

Thankfully both Riemer and Hucker are term limited out and Riemer has zero chance if being elected CE.

As for Jawando, at the rate he’s going I suspect he’ll be resigning at some point in his council career as result of a scandal. Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later.

Jawando is a scam man of the first order. He actually interned either county police department until he was old enough to apply for a position. He washed out because the police psychologist eliminated him based on his bizarre views. So he then turns around and tears up the police department at every chance he gets. The minorities love him because they think he’s got their back but the only back he has is theirs when he plunges a knife between their shoulder blades if it fits his needs.

“Bizarre views”? Pot. Kettle.

Looks like someone hit a sore spot.

To be sure, I looked it up and the employees are “content producer”, “communications specialist”, and “community engagement specialist”. While many have years of experience as actual journalists, it’s pretty clear that they are not doing journalism now.

He and Hucker are oddly close to that convicted drug dealer Miskiri who runs Society Lounge. Is that the possible scandal?

For this county? Moderate.

He's a Democrat who made a lot of money in the health care industry, is backed by some of the bigger businesses in the county, and has no previous experience in the public sector (aside from his run for county executive in 2018).

DP. I pay attention to MyMCMedia (and I have nothing to do with the county council). Local news sources are scarce in the county these days. I take what I can get.

Ok but that didn’t answer my question.

He's a moderate. Hucker just sponsored a bill to give $18 million a year to the Green Bank. Which already has a bunch of Excelon money and no customers. Blair would know business (and banking) enough to know that's just a move for show and not for substance.

He also knows how to make the trains run. Elrich does not. Witness the miserable funding failures during covid.
