You can not compare league standings when the leagues are so different. GA has no where near the competition that ECNL does. So, FCV may have finished higher than Loudoun in their respective leagues, but the direct FCV vs. Loudoun game is the most telling. Truth is that the teams were somewhat equally matched, but Loudoun had the edge. And won. And, played better soccer.
You obviously weren’t there and don’t know what you’re talking about. FCV dominated that game and was robbed by an incompetent linesman and ref. Question - would you rather be part of a winning GAL team or a losing ECNL team?
Loudoun 07s are unbeaten, in second place in their division and beat 1st place McLean. In what world is that a “losing ECNL team”?
I was at the Jeff Cup game and I'd say that teams were equally matched, but Loudoun a smidge stronger. Always annoying that every loss is explained away as "bad refs"...FCV lost because they did not control the game and played passive. And yes Loudoun 07s are UNDEFEATED this year in a much stronger league than FCV.
I mean, it is pretty obvious that Loudoun gained stronger players. Their ranking is higher than last year and they are undefeated. FCV, who gained some old Loudoun players, is ranked much worse than last year and the rumor is that the new players just do not fit in. The FCV 07 team is not right (my kid is good friends with several FCV players). I feel bad for the old Loudoun girls who left - they seem unhappy, injured and regretting their decision. They took a risk and looks like they failed.
Loudoun 07 is a very strong group especially with the addition of the new players. The new players are far better than the girls who left. Not only are they stronger soccer players they are also mentally stronger and sound teammates, just really good kids and families.Loudoun 2007 is VERY HAPPY with the new team.
