Good places include maryland, Florida, az state, Georgia, Ohio state. But honestly. It does not matter. Just learn to write and hustle to get internships.

Only go to a state school if you're getting in-state tuition. That drastically narrows down your options. No idea why you would pay full freight to somewhere like Georgia if you could get a better education from a private university for a similar or lower cost.

….because there are some state schools that are worth a premium and many private schools that are not.

If we're talking about full pay at Syracuse vs full pay at some random state school then, no, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. And there are many more private schools even better than Syracuse.

Which privates are better than Syracuse for journalism?

Lehigh

What were your beat(s)?

where would you suggest someone who wants to cover foreign affairs/national security go?

I was a political reporter and then a financial reporter.

Not sure about specific programs for national security/foreign affairs. UNC is strong overall but most of my fellow alums ended up in business/financial, political/policy reporting or sports.

Personally I’d say Syracuse>Lehigh for journalism specifically but Lehigh>Syracuse overall
