Yuck, that model is way too thin |
Gorgeous dress! |
I’m not a fan, but, as I’ve grown older, I’ve also grown to appreciate how well she dressed for her role. Jackie Kennedy though, had some wonderful outfits, and wore them well. |

I've always thought that Grace Kelly's dress in Rear Window is the epitome of a dress that is beautiful, flattering, timeless and sexy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/127237242/1950s-grace-kelly-dress-from-rear-window

I find a beautifully draped sari to always look stunning. Aishwarya Rai wears them well. I can never drape them properly.

I have never been a fan, don't get the hype. But, she kills them all in that gold dress! She actually pulls off that type of all gold embellished gown (much better than Kate's attempt). The red one is amazing too. |

1940s outfits always seem the most elegant to me. Some from the 30s and 50s also.
When I went off to college in the 70s I had some vintage outfits that belonged to my mom and my aunt. One was a pale pink skirt and dolman sleeve sweater, very light wool, not really stretchy, I vaguely remember the knit having a complex sort of abstract floral pattern. And a couple of lightly padded shoulder dresses that just draped beautifully, the skirts were flowing but not terribly full. Sadly they all got lost on a plane trip home. I have a vintage deep pink velvet 3/4 length sleeve trapeze coat in my closet I have almost never worn, but it is just beautiful. When I worked in the office I used to often see a young Black woman who wore retro full skirted 50s outfits, impeccable, and rode a retro bike--her bus stop was near my office, she did bike and ride. |
Love the colors in the top photo. |
