Just realized all the presidents send their kids to Sidwell

I wonder why that is? Is Sidwell really that head and shoulders above the rest?

Side note: GW’s daughters went to public school in Austin! (They graduated before he was elected). I think that’s awesome

Duh. Where have you been for say the last 40 years??🙄

Yes, but they were already at NCS when their dad became VP. I went there when they were there. They had secret service but it seemed minimal. Quayle’s daughter was also there. Basically it meant a handful of guys having around campus doing annoying things like telling you you couldn’t cut through the library to get to class. Or sometimes you’d go the other route and they’d tell you you had to go through the library. It’s probably more intense now.

The secret service prefers sidwell. It’s an enclosed, fenced in block and across the street is Fannie Mae on one side and a school and park on another side. No public roads, etc.

FWIW, Fannie Mae left three years ago.

And I’m pretty sure the fencing and gates just went up during the pandemic. Campus had been pretty open for many years before that. The “security system” was the school sending out regular emails asking parents to speak up if they saw someone wandering campus who they didn’t recognize. This whole DCUM story about the relative security of different campuses 15 years ago being the deciding factor for which school various political types picked is a complete fiction; these schools were never fortresses. The real protection was the SS agents placed nearby, not the buildings or the random fences.

Nope, they went up as Sasha Obama was finishing up. That was 3 years ago.

I recall this was reported in news stories at the time.

Really? Do you have a cite?

Obviously, security issues were important (eg, Biden's grandkids were at Sidwell) but where is the reporting that they preferred GDS?

You really think they are going to search for your news cite from 13 years ago? lol.

It was a rumor posted in this forum at the time. It has never been validated, but it makes the GDS crowd feel better about things.

If you say that it is clear that you do not the “GDS crow” very well.

Sure. But, like GDS, it really appeals to a narrow slice of the population. If you are in the target markets of these school’s they’ll fit like Cinderella’s slipper.

Oh, man. I used to go to school with the current head of Oxbridge. I lost a lot of respect for him when her hooked up with Koch.

Yes, right after the middle school teacher confronted Trump’s EPA Administrator in a coffee shop and the media attention brought on threats from the trolls and crackpots.

No, that happened after the fences were installed.
