CrossFit for introverts? Vegetarians? Vienna/Tysons

Anonymous
I am a decent weight and do regular yoga (3x/week). I want to develop more strength and tone. CrossFit sounds great in theory except I am not a communal exercise type of person and am vegetarian. What are my other options?

There's one on Mill Street in Vienna.

Being vegetarian has nothing to do with going to

The CrossFit gym in Vienna on Mill Street it's supposed to be really welcoming place for newbies and non-social people. My family uses the gym in Merrifield which is also nice.

You could also try doing a crossfit-style program yourself at a regular or home gym, like Street Parking: https://www.streetparking.com/

I lift on my own and then follow up with a crossfit-style metcon that I usually adapt from Crossfit gyms that post WODs online (nearly every crossfit gym does) or from WODs posted on instagram. I have access to a gym that has some special equipment (rowers, boxes for box jumps, skierg) but you can do a lot with just dumbbells and running outside/a treadmill. Street Parking is especially good for people with limited equipment if you don't want to come up with workouts on your own.

I don't quite understand what being a vegetarian has to do with not going to crossfit. FWIW, I'm pretty introverted and don't like to work out with others, but I don't find this a problem in Crossfit. Sometimes there are partner WODs, but it's not often enough to base your exercise program on it.

You should do CrossFit because then you will have TWO things to tell people within the first minute of meeting them -- you're a vegetarian and a CrossFitter.

Become an atheist and you'll have the three-fer.

Not OP. Im an atheist and vegetarian. I’ll mention I’m vegetarian if it comes up. Being atheist? I avoid talking about it all because most people in the US are pretty religious.

I don’t think being vegetarian or introverted matters. I’m weary of injuries associated with CrossFit. How’s the Vienna place?

I have had atheists inform me of that fact even when it's not even remotely relevant to the topic at hand.

OP here: I thought the paleo lifestyle went along with the cross-fit one.

No one cares what you eat. It’s your body. Lots of people eat clean. But people don’t really talk about their food plans. I have three trainers and i only know how one of them eats.

My DH does CrossFit and half in his class are vegan women. His box has no nutritional discussion. But I guess some boxes are more uptight.

Ha. I've known people for YEARS who are still surprised when I say I don't want a dish because it has meat in it. I'm like...how have you not noticed that I'm vegetarian? And that I always request veg meals when we go out?
