Any other Village Green (Great Falls) parents on here?

I know it is probably unlikely, but just in case:

I do not understand why parents with kids in extended day have to stay at school for meetings from 5:30-6:30 and again from 7-8 tomorrow. This may be the worst idea I have ever heard.

How does the school expect this to play out, when school goes until 6pm? Am I supposed to pick her up early, bring her home, leave her with a babysitter, then come back to the school from 5:30 - 8 on the first day of school? I'd actually like to spend the evening with my child to hear about her day.

Is this normal for the school? This just seems like really poor planning. We are just starting so I don't know any other parents, or I would ask them!

Does anyone know why the round table is happening tomorrow night? Are parents just upset about the changes in relation to the space and the younger class additions, or is there more to it?

I can’t decide what I think of the new head, by the way. In one respect I think some of the changes were needed and are good. In another respect I think there’s been too much too soon and he just strikes me as a strange guy.

Sounds like typical Great Falls entitled parents.

Men working with little children creep me out.

If anyone goes to the round table please report back!

Totally agree 17:45 & 23:55.

Would like to hear reports from tonight.

Don't like the new use of space. It's crowded, messy and disorganized. The new library area is a mess.

If you don't like it, get off the thread and keep your rude comments to yourself.

Men seeking baby or toddler care is just bizarre.

The problems with Village Green Day School abound, and they stem largely from Jason Lody's changes (allegedly with the blessing of the trustee who oversees the trusts which the school and the land are in since the passing of the owner). Class sizes have increased. Lunches are now being catered by an outside vendor that offers less options, more processed and pre-cooked foods. Lody bragged about hiring new teachers, but clearly that didn't filter down to the the art/music classes or the library. The art and music classes used to be every week, and they are now every other week. The kids used to "check out" a book every week from the library, and now my child knows there's no library to speak of. That new infant class that was sprung on us at the expense of the MPR space and the dining area? Hasn't materialized yet in large part probably because his own infant isn't 6 moths old yet and ready for the program. Lody is just waiting for the parents who have been there to leave so we can stop complaining about the school getting worse. New parents don't know any differently or came from worse schools. Focus on the teachers and try to forget the rest.

+1, but rather than forgetting, why not move your DC to one of the several other good (better?) options down the road; there at least 3 other choices on Georgetown Pike alone. They'd be happy to have less of your tuition money for perhaps a better environment and experience.
