| So so so many of us have left - we’ve been beyond thrilled with our new school. VG was convenient but not worth the money - most of the teachers have zer training. You tour a few of the real preschools and the teachers are accredited and fabulous. |
+1 |
| Yes, we would have absolutely done that, but it was all bait and switch. Lots of families had already committed and paid deposits -- all of these changes did not happen until after the school year had already started and parents were not informed of any of these changes either by the time we needed to make our decision to enroll or even by the time the school year had started and kids were in school. |
| PP here - the school was on a downward slide pre lody - it’s flashy and has a brand name - but drill deeper and the teaching is just incredibly sub par If you want a more teaching based preschool - we pulled out before Lody started after three crappy years of teaching where I don’t think my kids learned anything either socially/emotionally or academically - new school has been night and day ... |
| Current parent here- where else can you send a 3 year old full time? Chesterbrook is a lot worse. The Georgetown Pike options are all full time, right? That makes me sad to read about the art and music, I didn’t realize they were cut to every other week. And meanwhile the class sizes keep growing! |
Options in GF are St Francis, GFump, and Kong’s Kids. All lovely programs and way less expensive. Reston has LANK. MCLEAN has Little Langley, Counrry Day, Dolley Madison and forgetting the one on Kirby. Farther out is Nysmith in Herndon. |
Lody never made an announcement about cutting art and music. Librarian quit early in the year. Also no announcements were made about that. |
Yes, and for those interested in Montessori, there are lots of local ones in McLean and in Reston, even Vienna. |
Is this true? I've heard otherwise that art, music and library are still held weekly. |
Yes. My child's class is separated into 2 groups that switch off music and art every other week. Even if library is scheduled, they don't always go, and they don't have the red library bags and don't come back with books weekly as they used to. |
| VG -- if you're monitoring this list, thanks for bringing back the red library bags FINALLY! that took long enough. but "smart lunch" is the WORST way to save money and to cut corners! |
As far as I know none of these offer full day. |
| Oh he’s monitoring it all right! |
| I remember those days hanging out at the village green. Spoiler: it doesnt turn out well for Brenda and Eddie |
