Mistake on MCPS calendar?

I was looking over the 2018 calendar and noticed that there are 3 early release days for all students in November. (November 7, 12 and 13).
Nov 7th is the end of the first marking period and I am guessing that Nov 12 and Nov 13 are parent teacher conferences. In previous years the parent teacher conference days are only early release days for K-Grade 8.
Does anyone know if this is a typo or a change in MCPS policy? I am really hoping it is a typo. It is not easy for me to pick up my child on early release days (I drive ds to and from a magnet HS and the closest magnet bus stop is not walking distance from our house) and having three in a month is going to be really tough.

Also not to derail this thread but I noticed that in addition to shortening spring break to Wednesday April 17-22, they have April 17 and 18th designated as contingency instructional days if schools are closed for three or more days. Not sure how to plan for college visits etc. if we end up with a Spring "break" from Friday April 19 - Monday April 22.
This is really frustrating.

I think that it’s not a typo. They changed it this year. I believe it was the idea of one of the board members.

Have your child get a ride home with a friend, or go to a friends house. Or to the library to do homework (and you get child later).

Juniors and seniors can take 2 days a year for college visits excused so go ahead and use them for those 2 days.

I know. Was planning to do so for the Monday and Tuesday of that week. Want to buy air tickets well in advance so the trip will be affordable and worried about Wednesday and Thursday holidays being canceled if we have three or more snow days

I think what OP is saying is that the teacher conference days used to be early release for ES and MS but not HS. But there has been talk on this board about them making them early release for HS, too. I have no explanation as to why (since there are not conferences in HS) but I think the calendar is accurate.

If your kid is old enough that college visits are in play, I am certain that you, or he, can figure out transportation on early release days. FFS.

Thanks. Very helpful. There are 4 early release days in October and November. I will/he will figure it out but it is a hassle. It is especially irksome since we don’t get parent teacher conferences in high school
