OMG, I have been off sugar and baked goods/simple carbs for 3 weeks now and it is not getting any easier. If anything it was easier the first week or two and it's getting harder now.
I have lost 4-6 pounds and really do fit better in my clothes. That's my motivation. I have stalled out a bit in the last week, though. I use My Fitness Pal to keep the calorie intake to 1200. Today it took every ounce of willpower not to eat the mac & cheese, grilled cheese, and warm baguette off my kids' plates when we went to Panera. Please don't tell me to just allow myself some, because my willpower is so bad that once I start I can't stop. But wow, I really envy those people who say, "once I stopped eating sugar I didn't even want it anymore!" How do I get to be like that?? |

It takes a few weeks. Keep at it, it’s worth it!
Congrats on your weight loss! |
I assume this also means stay away from artificially sweetened things, too (which I have been, although today I had a sugar free vanilla latte for breakfast). |

Eat more fat, like avocado and olives and olive oil. That helps with the carb and sugar cravings.
I realize that can be a challenge when you are restricting calories, but when you are low carb, you usually consume more calories. |
I eat a good amount of healthy fats. I don't shy away from avocados, olive oil, small portions of cheese, and meat beyond 99% fat free chicken breasts. |
| It takes at least 6 weeks. |
| How did you come up with 1200 cal/day? |
| Seratonin levels? |
+1. This is probably too low |
Yup. Also may be affected by your monthly cycle. I increase my fats during PMS. |
Not OP. I am at the same calorie goal. MFP gives that number based on your weight, height, activity and your weight loss goal. |
This is what My Fitness Pal said I should stick to given my regular activity level (sedentary desk job), weight (158 at the start) and goal (145). When I exercise, I earn calories I can consume. |
| Your craving isn't for the sugar and carbs, it's for your lost pounds. Any time your weight goes down your body tries to get the weight back up to that point |
| The cravings do go away but wanting to eat baguette when it’s in front of you, that’s not going anywhere. That’s not a craving that’s just temptation. |

It took you many many years to build that habit. Now you want to break it in 3 weeks? Nope. I would give it a year at least and see what happen.
Also, make sure you get enough sleep. Sometimes you are craving carbs and sugar for energy that you are lacking due to inadequate sleep. |
