Someone else posted this last week...very helpful:

| I have been searching hi and lo for a clinic in alexandria or arlington as i am traveling in 2 weeks and want to get it before then. Anyway, i finally called the VA health center at 703-838-4043 and asked them. They referred me to a clinic in alexandria (as i live there) - Casey Health Center. You may want to ask them of other places if looking elsewhere. When you call just say u need to make an appt for H1N1 vaccination for pg women and they will schedule you in. Hope this helps. I got my appt for tomorrow morning. |
| PP, do you know if the shot you are going to get is thimerosol free? |
|
I recieved the H1N1 yesterdat at my OB's office (Dr. Sanders, Women's OB-GYN). They also said they'd do my husband if he couldn't find it elsewhere by a month before my due date.
A friend of mine, doctor and new mother, says the mortality rate for pregnant women who get this flue is 1 in 25. Gah. |
| Thanks to the PP for pointing me to the Casey Health Center. I am an Alexandria City resident and got an appointment there. |
Do you know if they require Alexandria residency? |
I don't know. I did mention that I was a resident. When I asked what I needed to bring, she just said myself! I would go ahead and call. Most places administering the vaccine do not seem to require residency. Also, I read on the main board that Arlington has now started their clinic, but it's walk-in and not by appointment. http://www.arlingtonva.us/portals/topics/TopicsPandemicFlu.aspx |
| PP here on Casey Health Center. They do not require residency and i just got back. There was no line whatsoever. My husband also got the shot and the whole process was less than 15 minutes. The shots however are not thirmerosol free but i do no believe any of the H1n1 shots will be. I personally think the benefits outweigh the risks! |
I went here this morning and it was very easy. They are only vaccinating priority groups. My son got vaccinated but I did not. |
Are they only vaccinating priority groups or can I (a parent of a toddler) get a shot? |
| What about kids under 2? |
that sounds terribly high. it can't be that high. |
You're right, it's not that high. The stat is, 28% of pregnant women who get H1N1 AND are hospitalized AND are admitted to the ICU have died. In other words, the mortality rate is much much lower than 28%, although I haven't seen any reports of what it actually is. Still, it's scary and I'm getting the shot. |
My husband and I just moved here with a 22 month old and Thankfully found this blog! I've been calling several pediatricians to get my daughter vaccinated but no such luck. Actually some of the front desk staff were really rude on the subject. Anyway, I'm in corporate housing in Arlington and it appears there is a clinic right near where I am that's walk-in, but the shots are not thimerosol free.. has anyone found a clinic with shots that do not contain mercury? Thanks for your help
