Can our babysitter drop/pickup controlled Rx?

A little pressed for time today and wondering if I can ask our babysitter (long time, very trusted) drop off and pick up our child’s stimulant medication at the pharmacy. I know she’ll have to show her ID—will they give it to her? I would think so because my last name is different from my chhild’s And yet they always give it to me.

I've never been asked for my ID when picking up meds. It's worth a shot for you.

I've also never been asked to prove my relationship to my kids when picking up scrips.

Even when I've been asked to show ID (in MD but not DC) they have never asked me my relationship, even though we have different last names. As long as the babysitter can confirm address and child's date of birth I think she'll be fine.

This varies state to state.

In DC you don't need ID to pick up a controlled substance, or at least not schedule II and IV, which is what my kid's taken.

In MD, you do need ID, but it doesn't have to match the name on the prescription. I know when my son had surgery, two different friends picked up his pain meds for me.

If you're in VA, I don't know the answer.

When everyone else has said it's no problem, what is your basis for saying it's not legal?
