A little pressed for time today and wondering if I can ask our babysitter (long time, very trusted) drop off and pick up our child’s stimulant medication at the pharmacy. I know she’ll have to show her ID—will they give it to her? I would think so because my last name is different from my chhild’s And yet they always give it to me.
This varies state to state. In DC you don't need ID to pick up a controlled substance, or at least not schedule II and IV, which is what my kid's taken. In MD, you do need ID, but it doesn't have to match the name on the prescription. I know when my son had surgery, two different friends picked up his pain meds for me. If you're in VA, I don't know the answer.
