What is with this recent trend...
Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson getting engaged after a month of dating (both are 24/25). Justin Beiber and Hailey Baldwin doing the same. Do you think they are just so messed up from early fame? I don't get it at all. They all have families and managers and people who can talk sense into them. Is it is publicity thing? They are famous enough that I can't see they need that. Just young, stupid and in love? Pete Davidson is a young comic, recently sober after 8 years of drug use, diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and has a history of trauma. I am guessing Ariana bonded with him over her trauma (Manchester bombing) and they met right around the one year anniversary. She was also dating someone else until mid May so not sure if the two relationships overlapped. But way get engaged? Justin breaks up with Selena Gomez again...and is engaged to a girl he briefly dated. What do you think leads to this? |

Famous people tend to be impulsive because they never face consequences for their actions. So if their fleeting thought ends up being a bad idea - oh well. Someone else will clean up their mess.
Ariana and Pete won’t get married. I think Justin and Hailey will. |
| I thought Bieber was gay??? |
Because... |
|
This has happened since forever. In five years you'll find that 85% of them didn't even marry at all (they were just engaged for awhile) or got annulled or divorced within 24 months. Especially for the young ones.
See: Jaimie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge, Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston, Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards, Rachel Miner and MacCauley Culkin, Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, Leann Rhimes and Dean Sheremet, Paris Hilton and her 4 fiancees, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth |

Really no stigma among them for divorcing.
That said, these are uncertain times. I think people fall in love faster against a background of turmoil. My grandmothers’ generation had similar quick engagements during WWII. One was not quite 16 when she married a steelworker she’d known for less than two months. Not a shotgun wedding either. |
| Pete Davidson has borderline and bi polar disorder, quick and implusive anything is typical. Including spending like 90k. they will both realize what a mistake this is when he starts truly cycling out of control |
|
Aren't both those couples pregnant?
Also they come mostly from backgrounds where young marriage is the norm. I know Baldwin doesn't but Bieber does. Weren't his parents teens when they had him, practically? It happens a lot in the USA regardless of fame. |
| AG says she not pregnant. Fan speculation that she’s pregnant is based on imagery in one music video. She’s super tiny, so she’d show almost immediately. |
Not exactly. You have it backwards. Beiber's mother was a teenager when she had him, but his parents never married. Baldwin's father was in his early 20s when he got married (not sure how old her mother was, but possibly around the same age). |
| I think AG prefers BBC, so Pete is not likely to last long. |
| Seems like some of this is for the publicity; many get engaged but not many end up getting married. Maybe they realize it was too fast or they just loved the attention. |
| Justin and Hailey have known each other for a while. He said in a Rolling Stone interview 2 years ago that he might marry her one day. |
Isn’t he supposed to be ridiculously endowed? |
AG is at the peak of her career and releasing an album this month with two singles that just shot to the top of the charts. She doesn't need any more publicity right now |
