Best haircut for fine (but lots of it) hair, age 36?

Anonymous
I need a haircut and think I'm ready for a new style (nothing too drastic). My hair is medium length and if I don't curl the ends or something, it just kind of hangs and looks blah. It's fine but I have a good amount of it, and naturally medium blonde. I occasionally get subtle highlights. I'm a 36 year old mom of three, and pretty busy with kids. Any hair style ideas?

Similar hair. I have an asymmetrical lob. Love it. Very short it the back and longish in the front. I do VERY little daily routine.

NP- how often do you go for a trim to keep the shape?

Anyone else? Similar hair here and an asymmetrical lob is a little too suburban for me.

Yes, isn’t this a played out “I’d like to speak to your manager” hairstyle? I thought we’d finished with that after Kate Gosselin rocked it.

I have my hair cut close to my head on one side and longer to my ear on the other, its a type of asymmetrical bob. However I style it to make me not look too mainstream. Its about the products and how you style your hair, not the cut.

Anyone NOT asymmetrical and happy?

I have a regular bob and love it

Thank you for posting this. Same hair and I have very long layers that I'm unhappy with. Last cut I got that wasn't a trim I was going for a 70s medium length shag, but it looked awful. I believe the stylist just butchered it and it could've looked better. I'm still working on growing out the bangs.

I’m 38 and I like having longer hair. Mine always hung limply and was kinda blah, then I got highlights. Like, lots of them. Not drastically changed in color, but noticeable. But the highlights made the texture of my hair a little drier which was actually good for me. I can let it air dry and it doesn’t look or feel as greasy and fine, it has a bit more volume and wave. It looks beachy and the slight dryness just makes it look better overall. Which sounds stupid but if you have fine hair that you lightened you would understand, lol.

I get it! I’ve never colored my hair but I have very fine, limp, silky hair. It looks so much better with sea salt spray or other grime-ifying stuff in it (best of all is real, actual sea water). Anything that adds texture, lessens the silkiness, and gives it some wave.

I have the same hair too that I highlight. Avoid layers because they can get frizzy.

I have similar hair and keep mine around shoulder length with some layers. After some trial and error with bobs and shorter cuts I like this length and the layers keep it interesting. I also highlight, which I agree helps give me some extra volume.

I have an enormous amount of fine hair. I often have a pixie, but right now I have a bob. Slightly shorter in the back and angled along my jawline, but not nearly so sharply as that Kate Gosselin look. It's cut closer in at the nape of my neck to reduce bulk. My stylist thins it out a lot every time I get a cut, but it's not really a layered cut. To reduce bulk, he does a very soft version of an undercut.

I've tried longer hair, but I just have so damn much hair that it's hard to style. It won't hold a curl, it won't hold volume, and no matter what I do it ends up pretty flat. It's like it eats product. Shorter hair gives me some actual control over it. If I keep it well conditioned, it looks thick and healthy instead of limp and flat.

Similar age and hair situation. My current hair muse is Asia Argento. I got her cut with piecy, blunt bangs and a long shag. Razor cut.
