Expectant and Postpartum Moms

I'm 33 weeks and am told that this baby is measuring at the 90th percentile for both weight and height.
My last pregnancy was vaginal and baby was only 6 pounds, 14 ounces, about 20 inches - so, tall and thin - but I had very severe tearing nonetheless. I am scared that delivering a baby this large will cause permanent damage! Any insights? |
| I am 5'4" and 130 pounds and I popped out a 9 pound baby no problem! You'll be okay. |
| You'll be ok! My babies were 9lbs3oz and 10lbs3oz respectively... no csection, just labored like everyone else. No permanent damage. You can do it! |
| Mine was 9 pounds 13 oz and I ended up with a c section because her head got stuck at the last minute. I wish I'd been one of the lucky ones who could birth a big one easily but I wasn't. Her head was over the 90 percentile at birth so there just wasn't enough wiggle room to get it unstuck. |
| You'll be fine! I had 3 big ones just fine. And remember, their estimates are not always correct! |
|
Yeah, take those estimates with a grain of salt! I bet your second child won't end up being that much bigger than the first.
If you've already had a successful vaginal delivery, chances are pretty good your body will remember what to do and you'll have a smooth delivery. |
| 2-10lbder's vaginally and I am 135lbs. First with a big head and no problems - small epis with some stitches. Second with smaller head but broader shoulders - got stuck for a sec but okay and had slight tearing with less stitches. and we're done! |
| I'm slim build and both my kids weighed 90th percentile for weight, height and head circumference. I don't think you'll notice the difference because the first has eased the path, so to speak, for the second - so it's a good way around for you to be having them. As far as damage - I had stitches for both and healed in no time. |

I'm 5'2, 120 pounds. First baby was 9 lbs 2 oz (and a 95th percentile head, apparently). Second was 9 lbs 8 oz. Third was 9 lbs 15 oz. All three came out vaginally with no problems--one small tear and that was it.
|
| My second was 9 lb, a bit over a lb more than my first. The second delivery was much easier! |
| I delivered my 9.5 lb son by C-section after 30 hrs of labor. His head was the problem I think. So large it couldn't even be charted. |
| 9 lb. 4 oz. baby girl. Vaginal delivery, no episiotomy, pushed for 27 minutes and she flew right out. I had a fast recovery and no damage. You can do it! (And I bet if your first one was only 6 something, your second won't be enormous.) |
| Well, I'm 5'3" and about 140. I had a 9 lb. 8 oz. baby via c-section after laboring for a LONG time. And, recovery was fine. |
| A 4th degree episiotomy and vacuum. Sorry, you asked. |

Mine was just under nine pounds, but had a huge head. It wasn't fun, but I had only minor tearing, much to the surprise of my OB and L&D nurse. My OB said a lot of the prenatal yoga might have helped stretch thinks out enough.
Good luck! |
