Caddie and Callie

I really like these two names but what are they short for? Or are they stand alone names?

Cadence and Calliope? Unfortunately I don’t like those but am wondering if Caddie and Callie are short for other names as well.

I know a Callie that is short for Caroline.

Caddie? Do you play golf?

Caddie - pronounced like Katie with a hard d ~ "Kady"?

Caddie? Like a golf caddie? I guess you could name her Cadillac.

Callie can be a stand-alone name. It could also be short for Calliope (like in Grey’s Anatomy), Callista (like Flockhart), or Carolina.

Callie can be short for Callista

I would think either could be a nickname for Caroline. I love that name, but there are so many of them in this area. The ones I know don't use a nn, though, so using one of these nicknames would make it a bit more unique. I love Callie - I had a good friend growing up who went by that. Her full name is Carolyn, which she now uses as an adult. I think the nickname Callie would also work as a nickname for Callista or Calla.

Callie is not short for Caroline/a. Caro or Carrie are.

I think of the character Caddie Woodlawn. Not sure what it stood for.

Uh, if there’s a way to stretch a nickname beyond the traditional, most obvious choice, to save OP’s daughter from being called or named Caddie, let’s give a little.

What are you, the nickname police? I know 2 Callies whose full names are Caroline. In one case, the parents wanted to name their daughter Callie, but worried it would be too informal so went with Caroline.

I think Cady (Katie with a hard D) is an awesome name. Like from Mean Girls. I thought about Cadence nn Cady.

Good luck!
