It has almost been almost 8 month past since my sons death Navid Sepehri and we still have no answer from the police or the wittnessess . My family and friends want answers many
people in our community are upset, frustrated & even depressed believe it or not over 8 friends have placed a tattoo on there heart with his name NAV ( that's what they called him ).
It's a shame that we leave in a community which is suppose to be one of the best in the country and one of the best schools in the nation but we still have the worst police protecting us,
when our children walk out of our houses we cannot be sure if they return home safely because we don't have the protection we need. With our case , after the missing report was reported
to a police officer at 3:00 am did not have the official report until 1:00pm the next day . Is it because we are different ?!!!
It looks like just a few in our community have the protection they need. It is unfair to have a immunity for certain people not to be responsible of what they
do even the cause of death of others . Please visit the memorial bench we have placed for our son in downtown Bethesda next to Honda dealership on the crescent trail and visit our website
http://www.navfoundation.org. If you agree with my article please send a email to the police chief (MCPDChief@montgomerycountymd.gov) Congressman (info@vanhollen.org , www.cardin.senate.gov)

I am so sorry for your loss.

The link doesn't appear to work. There is a ".org" but not a ".com." I'm not saying this to be unsympathetic but the OP wants to get the story out there.

I am sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine the pain you’re in. The time it took to get the report to you sounds fairly reasonable to me. I personally would prefer they fully investigate before sharing their findings.

No snark intended, who do you hold responsible for Navid’s death? From the articles online, it sounds like he purchased & drank alcohol prior to the party & refused a ride home with his buddies at the end of the night. Do you blame the store owner? Party host? Friends (albeit probably drunk but with enough sense to order an Uber)? Do you believe they (including Navid) are all equally responsible?

Wishing you peace and answers soon.

I live a few blocks from you and I'm sorry for your loss, but I think you're going about this the wrong way, and I've said that before when you posted on here. For example, telling people to write their Congressperson is useless -- this isn't a federal case, it's a local case.

Do this:
- Hire a lawyer
- Have them file a FOIA request for the police report
- You're talking about "immunity for certain people", I guess you mean police officers. Have your lawyer file a civil negligence/wrongful death lawsuit against them if you think so.
- Do a PR tour and go talk to Bethesda Magazine and Wash Post.

Emails from random people to the police chief aren't going to help. You need to use the judicial system if you think something was awry here.

Personally I don't -- MCPD tends to be very professional in my experience, even in how they turned over the officer-involved shooting case in Silver Spring last month to Howard County to ensure a fair review and possible prosecution. However, if you feel there was wrongdoing, get a lawyer and start filing suit.

According to the web site- they hold the “individuals who host” responsible.

OP- wishing you peace. Being volunteer speakers may indeed help another child, another community and other families - that is very selfless of you!

From my understanding, Navid and his friends showed up uninvited (the party was for a student in a lower grade), and they already had alcohol on them and had probably been drinking at that time. The parents were home, and once they saw signs of drinking, they kicked them out and called the police. That seems like responsible hosting to me.

What you are doing with your website is admirable and will likely help a lot of people.

I am also confused what answers you are looking for and what you think the police should have done differently. If you sincerely want people to take up your cause, I believe you would need to provide more specific information of willful negligence or wrongdoing on anyone's part. From what I have read, which may not be all the information, it reads like a series of unfortunate events that led to a terrible, terrible outcome.

I hope you find peace.

what a shame !We live in a society that nobody cares about others !A GROUP OF ANIMALS TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER AND DON"T LEAVE one behind ???
We should teach our kids manner and friendship.
why do we loose our teens each year because of gun , alchohol and drug ?Who makes money of selling it??
Who provided alchohol to under age ?
We are human and why not to keep our teens safe in such cold weather?
Navid was such a young ,handsome, smart and caring boy
The cops could call parents and keep him safe .If we host a party ,we are responsible for it .
we should try our best for keeping our teens safe .

Even if he was none of those, no one should die the way your son did. It is a tragedy and a shame. As are the homeless people who freeze to death in this country every winter. We can’t be surprised that our society is callous and careless toward one when it is that way towards so many.

We should teach our teens, first and foremost, not to drink if they are legally not allowed to. Problem solved.

Ditto for not doing drugs.

I'm so sorry You are in unimaginable pain. I don't think you will find the answers that you seek, it sounds like what happened to your son was a freak accident (it sounds like he ran through the woods and fell). I wish you peace, I don't think that you will find it by blaming others because it sounds like it was a series of very unfortunate incidents. I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful son.

You have posted here multiple times. It is time for you to get professional support.

You are clearly unable to bring any closure to this as all you want to do is blame and hold others accountable.

The "facts" as they have been in the news are that your child had multiple fake IDs on him. I am not for blaming the victim - but this is a situation that was created by poor choices of a teenager.

I think it is somewhat expected that OP would have difficult time right now as many area families are celebrating milestones of HS graduation and buying stuff for freshman dorms. It’s normal for grief and anger to resurge at these times.

Agreed.
