Changing and washing poop diaper in kitchen sink

DD pooped and a little got on her clothes and leg. The person watching her took her to the kitchen sink, put her giant poop diaper in the food prep sink and continued to wash her poop off her in the sink. I found this to be disgusting and totally unacceptable. Person watching her seemed to think it was no big deal and thought I was overreacting. We have 5 bathrooms in our house. No reason to wash DD in kitchen sink.

What do you think? Ok to wash DD in poop in kitchen sink?

Person who did this is now mad at me because I was so upset.

I’d be bleaching that sink for weeks, but I also have (admitted) issues around food safety and that kind of thing.

“The person watching her.” Listen. We know it was a spouse, stop being vague as I felt it was a babysitter or something.

Man or woman, I have no problem with this. Just scour the sink or jump in and change diaper yourself, you’re own way, next time.

I think it's gross. But I used to wash my dogs in the kitchen sink (chihauhaus) and also clean the fish bowl in there. Of course sanitized after and never with the stopper in there at all. Too many grooves on that.

But I think poop is too far.

Listen. That sink handles raw chicken with salmonella, gizzard bits, raw hamburgers w e.coli, and of course the random contaminated Romaine

An infants diaper is probably safer to eat than half the stuff you put in your sink. Haven’t you seen the mom joke, chocolate or poo, lets lick to find out.

Um, you realize that all these things have TINY amounts of pathogens / possible pathogens? Where do you think they got contaminated from?

This is why it’s no longer recommended to rinse your chicken in the sink, FWIW.

You know that phrase about not pooping where you eat? This is essentially the same thing.

I'd rather it in the kitchen sink than in a bathroom sink, personally.

The kitchen sink is deeper and makes way more sense logistically. Also most have a sprayer which you’d need for that situation. Bleach your sink and move on.

I work in the food industry and while I probably wouldn't do this, it's not that hard to clean (soap and water, then rinse) and sanitize (spray a bleach spray and let it sit for several minutes (which is a long time)) a sink and the countertops.

I take pathogens seriously but if you find yourself thinking things are "disgusting" and "unacceptable" you probably have an unhealthy attitude towards this stuff, tbh.

Just coming back to point out that poop (animal and otherwise) is what you're rinsing off your produce anyway.

What? I always thought that meant don't have sex with your coworkers. So that is fine, so long as I don't poop in the sink? Thanks for letting me know; this changes everything!

I think it’s no big deal TBH, but I prefer he bathroom sink... I don’t think 8 have ever used he kitchen sink to clean my kids, but I would not be disgusted if someone else did
