Private & Independent Schools
I'm a new empty-nester. I did everything to get my daughter into the best schools, sports, activities, you name it. Goal achieved -- she got into a great Ivy from a top private school (one frequently mentioned here). Thankfully, I've had a full-time job all along, but am still feeling like something is really too quiet around my house. Anyone else feeling this way and want to start an empty-nester group
Sorry I find your credential-dropping offputting. DC is at a top private, so this is not sour grapes.
PP -- if you're not an empty-nester why would you even reply other than to be a snark?
Here we go again with that trite expression.
don't reply if you're not interested -- do you not speak English? |
Are you the granny or the nanny?
WTF pp?
You're the cryptographer.
you're insane -- would someone answer the question yes or no and quit the flaming?

Recently empty nester here. I understand how difficult it is to adjust. I realize how much time and effort we put into raising our kids. I did lots of volunteering and the effort to choose the appropriate college was all comsuming and perhaps the most stressful time in my life. I have a dear friend who went through this at the same time. We co-chaired many events together. We adore each other but get together much less because we are both figuring what this next phase of life is going to look like.
It is tough. I have tried many different things and am exploring interests I thought I never would have. I am doing yoga, meditation, focus on my job, linger on my way home, reconnecting with single/childless friends, gone vegetarian, exercising more, picking different reading, taking weekend trips, and being totally selfish. Sounds like you are pretty cool and passionate. Why not enjoy.......YOU. |
Thank you PP! Someone answered the question nicely. I agree that the college hunt was all-consuming.
Why is this in the private/independent schools forum?
No thanks.
So OP could alert everyone that her kid went to a top DC private AND got in to a (awed gasp) Ivy. |
Why do people read the posts if they're not interested. And pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee stop using the word "gasp" and "snark". Do you people have a vocabulary...step away from the computer and read a dictionary or easier yet...go to dictionary.com
