Let me guess-- is she a stay at home mom who is educated enough to oversee the homeschooling of her children?

Yes, yes she is.

Is she also the “pumpkin thief” mom who has been posting ridiculous things all over Twitter? BSC

Pumpkin thief? Can I get a link to that?

Google pumpkin thief mom dc

I'm not sure she's the one who started this thread, but she's definitely the rabble rouser in our neighborhood about this

Is she active on Twitter too?

Well pumpkin thief mom is apparently on the Ward 1 Education council. So, a public entity.

Also, I'd be real worried with that person guiding education policy.

How the hell did that pumpkin thief story get so much press? Man, I long for the days when that was newsworthy.

It seems this ship has sailed at this point, no? School starts next week.

"Becky Reina, a parent with two children at an elementary school in Northwest, said she will not send her children back to their school building when school starts later this month.

“My family has a lot of advantages and we’re just going to see what happens,” said Reina, who is pushing the city to provide a virtual option. “We are prepared to deal with the consequences, whatever they are.”

I guess Becky is going to gamble with her kids' education.

You're welcome to pull your kids out of school and home school them. But it's pretty clear at this point that there isn't going to be an all-virtual option (and most of us think that is a great thing).

Curious to see, in two weeks, if Becky is actually homeschooling.

Yep. After spending a fair amount of my career in advocacy and community affairs at the lowest and highest levels, I feel pretty confident in saying that the “neighbors” and “school moms” who exist just to throw bombs and wrenches are a huge drain and should be ignored 95% of the time. Put all that energy into building, not standing on the sidelines tearing down.

Ya’ll are incredibly mean. Even for DCUM.

We’re mean because we are posting about a person on a mission to shut down DC schools? You make yourself the public face of that, then you need to accept criticism.
