SO annoying.

Pretty annoying but nearly isn't as bad as " nope". There's a poster on this board who always starts her genius insights with "Nope", and I want to punch her in the face through the screen.
Nope, you aren't nearly as cute and witty as you think you are. Enough with juvenile crap already.

Nope. The most annoying posters are the ones like you who think there is only one person doing this!

+1 People new to the internet are cute.

Why do people persist in thinking/sharing that it is "one" poster who does or says the annoying behavior? It's not "the poster who starts with 'nope,'" there are many posters who do that. Maybe they do it as a one-off, or maybe they do it every day, but it's not just one person.

That's like saying you're annoyed by "the poster" who replies with "+1."

+1. Also, no one thinks they’re being “witty” by saying the word nope. It’s just a commonly used word.

I agree with the PP that it likely the same person doing it. Although nope is a common word, starting your sentence like that is a very immature and dismissive way of conversing.

Errr...it's a pretty common response these days.

Highly unlikely that it's just a single person.

I agree. Why? Because I've used the word nope probably twice or three times at the beginning of a post. There is no way that there are only two of us.

BTW you don't seem to wonder why I use "nope." It is because I am writing a reply to something that seems unbelievably dumb. My choice was "nope" or something that would get me booted off of DCUM. I chose "nope" because I would be in trouble if I didn't get my daily fix.

I have “Noped”. It is definitely dismissive and reserved for people who have posted something blatantly ridiculous. It is far less offensive than other ways people respond to really nasty posts.

+1. I start with "Nope" sometimes in the face of absurd, perpetuated misogyny. If the premise of a poster is that wives cook and should learn recipes from her husband's youth not because she actively wants to, but just to please him, that's a NOPE, if he wants Nana June's cookies, he can damn well bake them.

Well, she is not annoying; she is very immature and makes me sad for her and for her kid.
The op that moved onto a relationship when her Dh cheated and her kid was 7 years old, and nanny told her it is way too fast. Sister told her the same. I suspect she was the op of the thread "does partner come last if your boyfriend has kids" thread from yesterday. She posts different scenarios and ages for kid, but it seems pretty clear that this guy is still married, she is the affair partner, or if not, he is definitely a wrong guy.
What became clear is that she cannot put her kid first in her besotted state for this guy. Really sad, honestly.

I love it when the anti-redshirters try to do math. It’s pretty funny.

Not to be mean, but when I see people like the PPs who think only one person out of hundreds or even thousands of posters are saying something as common as “nope”, it makes me think of the Carlin bit about how stupid “average” is...and how half of all people are even dumber than that.

Yes, there are MILLIONS of stupid people in the US. It’s scary how stupid some people are.

Yeah, they're totally nuts. There was one a few days ago who was insisting that kids shouldn't be 18 in high school because they might be accused of statutory rape, demonstrating that she is apparently unable to do basic addition and batshit crazy. My non-redshirted kid will be 18 most of high school, as will many of DCs non-redshirted friends.

A side effect of DCUM in real life for me is that if anyone says they are against redshirting, I start looking for the crazy to leak out.

She also keeps wanting stuff to be in her name. It is clear the DH intends to keep her on a stipend and give the bulk of his millions to his kids, but she doesn't stop trying....

Plus his enormous puppy that he bought, that he loves more than her, so she keeps it confined to a crate for 14 hours a day with no access to food/water or potty. 😡

Let me see if I'm getting this right...

You want to physically punch someone in the face, through the screen, for simply writing "Nope"? 🤔

It might be time to get back / start on mood stabilizers, because that's neither a rational or logical behavior (and that's not snark -- your response to the word "nope" is highly illogical).

I don’t know if they’ve been mentioned yet, but the “Did anyone (hear that loud noise/ see that flash of light/ smell that odor) in Bethesda?” posters.

So random and neighborhood-specific and I only see these posts for select parts of Montgomery County. Take it to your neighborhood listserv or Next Door.
