My hair has always been dry but lately it’s gone to a new level. So coarse, straw-like, brittle. Ugh.
I have very nice shampoo and conditioner and product. I rarely use heat to style. But it’s not really helping. What do I need? Are there treatments at the salon I can use? I’m sick of dealing with this. |
| Get your thyroid checked. This is a symptom of thyroid problems. Also only wash it once a week. |

I'd ask your stylist. There are probably moisturizing masks or the like you could use.
But I'd stop shampooing for awhile. Use conditioner on the ends but skip shampoo. |
| What products are you using? |
| I would do Olaplex standalone treatments at home every other week (or more often) and alternate with deep treatments of a moisturizing mask under a heated cap. |

keratin treatment. huge, long term results. I did Brazilian and my hair which sounds like yours was so smooth and soft for almost 3 months

+1 I just got keratin express and I am shocked at how nice my hair is. |
+2, here's your answer |

Go buy some ground flax meal (must be ground, not whole seeds). You can get this at Trader Joe's. Take one heaping tablespoon full each morning, on cereal or mixed with yogurt or whatever.
I guarantee your hair and skin quality will improve visually and to the touch within two weeks. It makes your skin and hair more moist, but in a good way. I don't know why more people don't do this. I learned the trick from our Russian housekeeper. It works and is super cheap. |

stop using shampoo with sulfates
coconut oil wash every other day use apple cider vinegar rinse |
Op here, thanks to everyone with the great suggestions. I'm totally going to start in on these. Changing diet, calling the doc, deep conditioning treatments. I already don't wash my hair more than 3x a week and use fancy (and EXPENSIVE, wow) shampoo and conditioner without sulfates and other junk. I use Argan oil and Bumble and Bumble after. Question for the keratin people: Is there a specific kind I should ask for? Do I need to go to my high end salon or can anyone do it? I'm pretty clueless about treatments. Can I just look for any place that does keratin? |
Is this the product you mean? Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3? https://www.sephora.com/product/olaplex-hair-perfector-no-3-P428224?skuId=2033264&keyword=Olaplex |
| You need a hair cut to cut off the dead stuff first. You can't bring dead ends back to life with shampoo. Then you need to quit coloring it. |
| Yep. Quit bleaching your hair, plus the other things. Keratin straightening on peroxide-bleached hair is not a winner |
