FET (day 5 embryo): tested on Day 8 and HCg levels low

Anonymous
Hi there -

I posted earlier this week about the potential pregnancy symptoms. My test today was positive, but the HCG levels were low (14, and she said it should be 20). I’m testing again on Monday. Has anyone ever had this happen and had an eventual pregnancy? Trying to figure out my odds...sounds like more often than not, this won’t be a pregnancy, right?

8dpt? Or 3dp5dt?

They transferred a day 5 embryo last Friday, which was 8 days ago. Not sure if I have the acronyms right.

My clinic posts 10 days after day 5 transfer so levels are higher. All you can really do is wait. Sending you good vibes.

My clinic tests at 8dp5dt - which it sounds like yours does too. Here are my results. My clinic likes to see a Beta if 50.

FET 1 - 55 (resulted in DD)
FET 2 - 9 (chemical)
FET 3 - 66 (resulted in DS)

I wish you the very best, OP. And I'm impressed your clinic will test at 8dpt. I always had to wait a full two weeks at SGF and it SUCKED.

Eek sounds like my 14 is really low. We’ll see tomorrow. It’s really strange, but i feel very pregnant (nauseous, headache, etc.). I guess this could happen w a chemical as well...

OP here:

So my levels were 15, not 14, at 3 weeks, 5 days (8 days post FET).

Today, they were 29.

They told me to remain cautiously optimistic and said we'd retest every 48 hours for a while. I feel like I'm at least pregnant for now, right? However, I asked if I could be excited, and she cautioned me not to.

Awww....Your numbers seems to be increasing but slow.... Fingers crossed for you and your baby!!!! Sending prayers!

OP here: I'm going crazy. Why are the numbers so low? Is there any hope?

As another poster said, SGF never tested me that early so it's hard to make a direct comparison to my experience. I think my first beta was probably at day 13 or so post fresh transfer of a 5 day, and it was only 45. By the time I went back about 48 hours later for the next beta it had dropped to 12, and did end in a chemical. I just want to say that I commisserate, that wait to find out the answer one way or another was awful. But you will know soon, hang in there.

Doubling is important, but it isn't everything. I also had very low but appropriately doubling numbers after an FET. It was later diagnosed as likely ectopic (they never actually located the pregnancy). Not trying to scare you, OP, but make sure you get a scan early, even if the numbers continue to double. I had no idea that betas could double in that scenario.
