While Trump and his supporters are hyping IG report disclosures about anti-Trump statements by Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, despite the report's findings that the agents didn't act is a biased manner, much clearer anti-Clinton bias among FBI agents is being largely ignored.
Here is testimony of former Attorney General Lynch about a conversation she had with Comey six days before the election:
They are discussing a group of FBI agents in the New York office who have "a deep and visceral hatred of Secretary Clinton". This is important because Comey has explained his letter to Congress about the emails on Weiner's laptop as being necessary because he feared leaks would make it look like he was covering it up. It is pretty clear that Comey feared these anti-Clinton agents would be the source of the leak. Moreover, Devin Nunes says in this Fox News interview that "whistleblowers" from the FBI told him about the laptop in late September: https://twitter.com/joshtpm/status/1007720437692891137 The same information was apparently leaked to Rudy Giuliani. The story here is not the one Trump would have you believe -- that anti-Trump FBI agents engaged in a witch hunt -- but rather the opposite. Anti-Clinton FBI agents leaked information about Weiner's laptop to Nunes and Giuliani, forcing Comey to disclose that information to Congress (knowing it would be immediately publicized) just days before the election. In fact, the emails on the laptop were not new and proved irrelevant, something else Comey eventually announced (though the damage of his first announcement had already been done). The bottom line with regard the FBI is that both Clinton and the Trump campaign were being investigated. The Trump investigation was kept secret despite pressure from Harry Reid to reveal it. The Clinton investigation was repeatedly publicized because of leaks and the fear of leaks by anti-Clinton FBI agents. To the extent political bias within the FBI played a role in the election, it completely favored Trump. |

You are living in a fantasy world. The investigation shows just how biased the FBI agents were in favor of Hillary and against Trump. Those agents are Giglio impaired from here on out.

If the FBI was completely biased against Trump, why didn't news of the investigation into his campaign come out before the election? Why didn't Strzok and Page leak the way the anti-Clinton agents leaked? The FBI had the Steele Dossier. Why wasn't that leaked before the election? Sorry, but you are the one -- along with Trump -- who is living in a fantasy world. The difference is that I suspect Trump is aware of the fantasy. You, on the other hand, are just a useful idiot in Trump's fantasy. |

Yep. Agents 1 and 5 aren't even Strzok and Page. They were additionally on the Clinton case. They were later married.
You realize how many FBI agents are seething about this whole thing today? |
Because the investigation of Clinton was compartmented from the rest of the FBI. What is CITED in the IG report is what was revealed Wednesday. There's no way of dancing around it. But you aren't seeing that on CNN and MSNBC, right? Just carefully sculpted headlines. Do you really trust those news outlets? |

Moderate independent here. The investigation findings on the NY FBI Field Office alarmed me. The office did not disclose receipt of relevant information, and secretly divulged having the laptop to bad actors / political stakeholders breaking the rules. I see that ad an attempt to cripple Clinton. The discussion between Guiliani, his foreshadowing of an October surprise - the relationships that intersect across the bird. How can you not see this or suspect otherwise? People are people, and clearly there are people who are going to do what get want to do. A moral compass is not Party-specific. Wrong is wrong, on both sides. |
| These politically biased FBI agents so clearly had a hand in the election. Thank you for admitting that the FBI is not above reproach and accepting that Americans questioning their trickery and lack of professionalism is NOT what has caused their reputation to be tarnished. What is pertinent now that the election is in the past is how that political bias led to the beginning of the Mueller investigation on false pretenses. That is what needs to be sorted out. |
I'm not sure what you are talking about. Your post can be read as supporting my initial post or opposing it. Can you make yourself clearer? I haven't watched either CNN or MSNBC in a couple of days. I have watched Fox however. The IG report found protocol violations by Strzok but said that political bias didn't play a role. I assume you support that conclusion based on your praise of the report? The "compartmentalized" Clinton investigation was leaked to Nunes and Giuliani while the Trump investigation was not leaked. So, what is your point about compartmentalization exactly? |
|
It was not leaked to Nunez or Giuliani during the 2016 investigation.
|
News of the Trump investigation wasn't leaked because the Clinton investigation was comparentalized? |
Yes it was. I linked to a video of Nunes saying it was leaked to him in late September 2016. Giuliani was quoted at the time saying that the FBI had given him information about Clinton. Are you going to deny what Nunes and Giuliani themselves say? |

"The IG report found protocol violations by Strzok but said that political bias didn't play a role."
How could they determine that given what Strzok texted (texted from a SCIF BTW). |
Because he didn't act on his personal bias. Everyone has personal biases. Some people can set them aside in their professional life. If Strzok really wanted to prevent Trump from becoming president, don't you think he could have done a lot more than send text messages to his lover? He could have acted like the agents in the New York office and leaked like a sieve. |
funny since it says no bias. How did you miss that? |
