Youngest GS-15?

| Someone I work with just got a GS-15 and they are only 31 years old. I'm finding myself very envious being a 45 year old GS-13. Is obtaining a GS-15 at 31 normal? Who is the youngest 15 you know and what age was it achieved? Just trying to see if I'm seriously behind the curve. |

| It’s getting younger. Used to be that folks at many agencies would have to wait for years and years. Timing matters, though, an some younger creeps are getting them. |

| The youngest 15 I know is about 32-34 (hard to guess exact age but she's early 30s). But she's still the exception not the rule at my agency. |

| I work with many 40+ year olds who are all 14s and also we had one kid come, become a super favorite, and get his 15 around 30 (I'd guess). What can you do? Just focus on getting to the next step. |

| I was a 15 at age 30. Attorney. Fast but not crazy fast. Attorneys who go straight through get out of law school at 25 start as 11s and promote every year |

I was 33, and the person who had the job before me was a year or two younger when she got it, as was my current boss when she became a 15 years ago. I started as a 13 when I was 28, but they were both in government from right out of school.
I've noticed that people who make 15 young tend to move on, which opens things up for others. Also, on the topic of envy, I like my job but there are tradeoffs and, at least from what I've seen, most people don't want the job when they see what's involved. |

| I got my non-supervisory 15 at 31. Started at 9-11-12 ladder out of grad school. Promotions about every year and a half thereafter. |
