I'm so glad she is ok but how scary is this! She celebrated her youngest son's 7th birthday the day before and the day of the attempt...and everything seemed fine. She has been open about her struggles with depression and anxiety but it never seemed to be this serious. My thoughts are with you Amy!

But, did she seriously post a video of her singing happy birthday with her kid right after a suicide attempt? The contradiction in tone is enough to make my head spin and the appropriateness of it? I'm pretty sure the birthday party was just before the attempt. You obviously don't regularly read her blog or you would know about her other children and her struggles with depression and anxiety.

I don't think much of bloggers in general, and commercially-helped parental blogs in particular, but you have to realize that this is part of her disease. She is mentally ill. In a suicidal crisis, the patient cannot think rationally and put things into perspective.

She needs expert treatment, and even with that, she is at high risk of not making it into old age. This is why we need to better fund research in mental health.

Bloggers are attention seekers and want attention. Suicide attempts and following through are an attention getter. You have to wonder ... and why would you post so much personal information your kids can find later on about both them and you.

You obviously don't read her blog so why accuse the poor woman of timing a post about her suicide event?

I often worry about the Mommy Bloggers. A friend is financially dependent on hers and the very carefully crafted lies about her life. I fear she’ll either crack under the strain of trying to keep the charade up or someone who knows her will spill the beans about how far away from the truth is her and the kids’ reality.

Once again, you don't read her blog so you are unaware of her story. She's been blogging for more than a decade and the one child you see in the one single post you've read is her youngest. Her other children already read about themselves on her blog. She posts everything with their permission.

Yeah, I looked at the About page. The oldest was born in 2005. Old enough to read this stuff but not old enough to "consent" -- too old to be blogging about.
