What bank do you use for checking/savings and why??

We have PNC right now and the benefits we signed up for have basically disappeared, so we'd like to switch somewhere else. The only requirements we have are no fees (we'd do direct deposit), ATM reimbursements, and a physical branch in or near Falls Church City. What would you all recommend?

I use Ally Bank to hold the bulk of my cash with a small amount in WF and PNC. I am slowly phasing out the WF account and will probably retain the PNC account. Ally has really good rates and you don't have to play games like some of the other banks that have slightly higher rates.

^Sorry, I know you wanted a physical branch nearby. Point being use an online bank for good rates and keep a small amount of cash in a local bank.

We have USAA, but you may not be eligible for it. My sister uses TD Bank and is very happy with them.

I use Capital One. Used to have Bank of America but they were TOTALLY unhelpful when I wanted to set up online banking and I got fed up.

Pentagon Federal, and we're very pleased! Do wish they'd improve their online bill pay system so it would show pending transfers and dollar amount of checks mailed online but not cashed yet.

Capital One, I've had my account back when it was Chevy Chase Bank

OP here - we actually use Ally for our long term savings, but wanted a local bank for our day to day money and short-term savings. Thanks, though!

We use Wells Fargo but there's no ATM reimbursement. We've never paid a fee and they're everywhere in this area. I like depositing my checks through the app but I'm sure they all have that now.

I also use Pen Fed Credit Union (for checking, credit card, and mortgage) and Ally for larger savings since it has good interest rates. Pen Fed has limited bank branches though, so that may not work for OP. I rarely have to go to the bank though--I can deposit checks by phone and do most things online.

I strongly recommend a credit union though, even if Pen Fed isn't a good fit.

USAA and Justice Federal. Both have unmatched customer service. USAA refunds all ATM charges no matter where you are or what type of machine you use. They both have easy to use mobile apps. We have been USAA members for 40 years!

I have USAA, ATM refunds are a nice benefit although they are not unlimited its capped at like $15 a month which is enough in most cases
