How will you celebrate the good news?

If you are one of the lucky ones to get the thick enveloppe in the coming weeks from the local private schools, what do you plan to do to celebrate? Anything special? Just curious.

Get a life people! Do you think when you are in your death bed that you would care so much that you went to a "private school"???

I found that most people weren't thrilled regardless of the outcome. People apply to SO many schools that they typcially don't get their 1st choice (nor their 2nd and maybe not even their 3rd). I know MANY, many families who would've loved to sway fat envelopes as their 1st choices differed and they each wanted what the other had.

Just be happy with the outcome if you get into any of them and try not to wonder "what if". You don't want to spend the summer sitting by the phone waiting for a call from the waiting list - it could happen, yes. But, it'll happen whether you spend the summer stressing about it or not. You need to get yourself happy with whatever you end up with, because they truly are all great choices and your kid will be happy at any of them, most likely.

The same way I celebrate everything else. Hookers and cocaine.

What a stupid topic...

Pollyanna's kid went 6 for 6. Or so she says.

We only applied to one school. . . . don't expect to get in this year but we'll keep trying and look at more next year.

And pollyanna's results are not representative of what the results will be for most of the kids applying this year.

I think it's best to be low-key about the entire process with your child. No big fuss about applying, no angst if they don't get in, and no big celebrations if they do get in. It's too much pressure to put on kids, to draw them into all the drama.

Our daughter got into Sidwell as a 7th grader. We hugged her told her "good job," but that was about it. She was well into her first year at the school before she had any inkling of how competitive the process had been.

Celebrations should be limited to you and DH.
