I believe the college coaches love multi-sport athletes.
Trolling— no they don’t at this level! The competition is so intense and the skill level must be so high that these girls have to be laser focused and singularly focused on lacrosse to compete at a high D1 level.. stop trolling and giving bad advice. This may be true for a superior elite all around athlete but not for the typical D1 prospect lacrosse player— it doesn’t work like that in any other sports —you have a couple outliers of people that are just all around athletic but otherwise you have to be singularly focused by high school on the sport you want to play in college at the D1 level.

You are incorrect. Look at the bios and rosters of the top 40 programs. You will find most played more than sport in HS. The top programs want athletes. Playing ONLY lacrosse since kindergarten doesn’t always make you an athlete

From my experience through more than 1 recruiting cycle was that the coaches want the best athletes (that have speed). I believe that if a player plays/starts on multiple varsity sports teams, like soccer or field hockey in the Fall and basketball in the winter, it helps get your player on the radar of the college coaches. My sense is that the coaches believe there can be more potential with that player in lacrosse in college when it becomes their only focus, and if that recruit is playing 3 high school seasons and managing your academics, it provides an indication that the player enjoys being a part of a team and will be able to handle the demands of playing college lacrosse. Obviously, there are the can't miss super players in the 2028 recruiting class, but once you get past those 50 players or so, 3 sport athletes will differentiate themself in that next/large group of players that are competing in the recruiting process for the top 50 school slots.

If you take a look at the SR accounts for the 2026 and 2027 Capital players, I suspect that there are a lot of 2/3 sport athletes that are going to the target schools of the 2028s....

Most of the girls’ schools actually require sports each or most semesters so it’s not surprising they are multi sport athletes. It has also been the cause of a lot of injuries for girls unfortunately. Repetitive use or otherwise. By junior or senior year many cut back so as not to be injured for lax season.

I could very well be wrong, but I believe more single sport athletes have injuries than girls who are playing multiple sports throughout the year

Everyone is too busy traveling the country and spending endless money on winter camps and stalking instagram to see what camps their competition is at to be posting in DCUM these days.

ACL injuries have recently hit some 28's. Too much load and not enough rest is usually at the root. Wishing all a strong recovery.

I'm sorry to hear about this, and join in wishing a quick recovery. I've seen similar injuries among other girls in this class, many of whom hope to play in college. While this is undoubtedly a setback, I believe that someone talented enough to compete at the next level still retains that potential and will likely still have that chance.

Wishing all those girls a speedy recovery and to keep their head up.

Did you all see that IL Women had a rating for a ‘28 Capital Orange played that was higher than Capital Blue players? Thought that was a surprise. Not familiar with the teams or players at all though (we are Balt area and also my kid is younger).

There are always some kids on the cusp and there’s some kids that there’s not much difference so they could play either blue or orange. This is true for all teams that have an A and a B team. It also could’ve been the day. The inside lacrosse was doing evaluations that that player had a good day and the other player had a bad day it happens. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Two different events, two different evaluators.

Was it IL or the recent us club rating that people paid for?

You have to pay? I thought it was free application, then if chosen you pay a fee? Maybe I am wrong.

You are correct. Application was free. If chosen you can pay to be evaluated. Not all were chosen and not all evaluations were favorable

I can't imagine how a Balto parent of a younger kid would possibly end up making such comparisons, but okay.

The application being free seems like a ploy because the next step is to say whether you want the evolution. If you weren't going to be considered or given an evaluation without paying, then the "application" being free is meaningless. Bottom line though, you have to put your name in the hat and opt in for US Club.

So it seems no different then all the other girls lax $$$ makers. You apply or tryout, if chosen you pay.
