...and it (meanly) made me kind of annoyed!
Having three kids over the last seven years, I've had to push myself so hard with diet and exercise, all while in a state of exhaustion. It's been a struggle for years and I'm still not quite there. It just seems unfair that my friend -- whom I adore-- eats crap for years and doesn't lift a finger and then, poof! She has been eating 1000 calories a day with no discomfort whatsoever. And, she's a doctor, so she has a lot of knowledge of/ comfort with the meds.
I'm a bad friend, I know, but it seems so unfair!!!!

Why is it unfair? Can you not afford to pay for similar drugs?

I lost a ton of weight on phentermine and as soon as I went off it, it all piled back on at a speed that defied mathematics.

Why don't you do it too? Once I'm done breastfeeding I want on the phentermine bandwagon. I think being overweight is more unhealthy than a drug I take for a few months to lose weight.

Why?

Did you change your eating habits before and/or after? Phentermine just keeps you from feeling hungry, so if you changed the way you ate and stuck to it, you should have been able to keep the weight off.

+1. I tried the Dr. A phen-pro combo that everyone raves about, and it did nothing for me.

One of my closest friends did this too, under a doctor's supervision about 15 years ago. It was a combination of appetite suppressants and meal substitute shakes. As soon as she stopped taking the pills and doing the shakes, every pound came back, and then some. She ended up having gastric bypass (and has maintained the loss for a long time now).

There's no 'magic' weight loss cure, OP.

I took some of those and they made me an emotional wreck, to the point that I'd rather just be fat.

I lost 50 lbs in 15 months, the slow and steady and sustainable, healthy way.

That sounds awful to me, OP. One's clothes and skin can't keep up. And "but she's a doctor" doesn't mean squat - there are lots of irresponsible and idiotic ones out there. I do not envy your friend at all.

I'm not overweight, just...normal. I could stand to lose 10 pounds but no dr is going to prescribe me these pills for that. It's just frustrating. All told, I've slugged off about 150 pounds of preggo weight over the years, via diet and boot camps and running, and it SUCKS. I am not an athlete. It hurt and was awful and still does and continues to be! It also took A TON OF TIME -- like, a huge chunk of my weekly free time, for many years. It's just frustrating.

Why can't you do the same? I mean, if you're interested. And why wouldn't you be?

I took Phentermine last year and lost 25 pounds in six months. I've been off of it for one year and have gained back 5 lbs. I've been eating well this week and I'm feeling like I'm back on track mentally to lose them.

which drug? tell me!!

So it's that Phentermine? Where do I get one? I want to get rid of my cravings.

I lost 70 lbs in the past year and I started off with Qsimia. What makes you think it was no sacrifice? I was only on it for three months and lost the initial 30 lbs while taking the drug, but it was still a lot of work. It's not like you aren't hungry ever or don't still have to work out.
