Waaaait.

Watch how she struggles to keep the weight off, and then decide whether you want to be envious or not.

I don't see why it's unfair, you could do it too if you wanted to but for whatever reason you choose not to. Focus on that.

OP already said she didn't have as much to lose so a dr won't write her a prescription. I'm 40 lbs overweight and can't get a doctor (other than Dr Anchors) to write me one.

I lost almost 20lbs and have kept it off since going off of it in September.

Weight loss drugs always end up being a danger to your health. They have not been studied for long enough to know what the long-term implications are. I remember a long time ago with the whole Fen/Phen thing, it was later discovered that these drugs were really bad for your heart. Just keep up your hard work with diet and exercise and don’t put drugs into your body that are unnecessary.

That is not true. Phentermine is very safe; it's the phen/fen combo that was not. There is plenty of long-term data about phentermine.

50 pds in three months tells me that she was veryyy overweight to begin with.

I have been taking Phen for 6 months and have lost about 45 pounds.

I'm not overweight, just...normal. I could stand to lose 10 pounds but no dr is going to prescribe me these pills for that. It's just frustrating. All told, I've slugged off about 150 pounds of preggo weight over the years, via diet and boot camps and running, and it SUCKS. I am not an athlete. It hurt and was awful and still does and continues to be! It also took A TON OF TIME -- like, a huge chunk of my weekly free time, for many years. It's just frustrating.

Don’t be so sure. I was able to get a month prescription when I weighed 135 pounds. I lost 8 and only gained back one, and it’s been 7 months. I felt no adverse effects at all and was completely fine. I had gained about 10 pounds while trying various BC pills to address some issues I was h omg and the weight wouldn’t budge, and I’m very active. Most people commenting negatively against Phentermine have never tried it. I was once a naysayer. Now I am a believer. I felt great and made a conscious effort to change my habits and it’s worked out well so far.

I have taken phentermine on and off for years. For me personally, it works amazing for the first couple months but after that it starts to lose its efficacy. On top of that my cravings come back with a vengeance and the weight just creeps back on unless you really maintain a strict diet and exercise regimen.

How do you get it on and off for years? Is your doctor willing to prescribe it for you upon request? General practitioner?

I am in NYC - there is a place I go to called NY Weight Loss Specialists or something like that in midtown. Since they don't take insurance they'll pretty much take anyone on as a patient as long as you're overweight. You don't even have to be severely overweight. They also give you the b12 shots. I used to be very overweight 10 years ago and lost a lot of weight on their program. I was able to keep it off for about 5-6 years but due to stress, drinking too much, anti-anxiety meds, being lazy, etc some of the weight has crept back on. So I'll go back to them whenever I want to get it back in check. It will work initially for me but as soon as I go off the pills and shots its so hard to maintain. And then the cycle continues.

So after having DB I vowed I would try to lose weight naturally through diet and exercise before turning to the pills because I want to be able to keep it off. And so far just by doing low-carb/sugar and cutting alcohol plus working out 5-6x per week I have lost 30 lbs since February. I am really convinced those pills mess up your metabolism so I wouldn't advise doing it unless truly a last resort.

Actually I should clarify above it was anti-depressants to contributed to weight gain, not anti-anxiety. Also many times you can just google "medical weight loss" in your area and you can find places that will prescribe the pills for you. If you are not severely overweight they may give you a little bit of hard time but all you have to do is give them a sob story of how you used to be so thin and yadda yadda and have recently gained all this weight and they'll treat you.
