Our daycare hosts an outdoor graduation (complete with caps & gowns) for the kids heading to K this fall.
They request that the kdis wear black dress pants and a white dress shirt. Aside from the fact that they'll be covered by the gowns anyway, is there any genuine reason to go along with this? |
| Because that’s what they want? Why wouldn’t you? |
| That the kids enjoy it? Go along with the spirit of it so your kid doesn't feel left out. |
| Your daycare provider has obviously put a lot of thought into this. Look at what she is doing to honor the kids that are leaving. I think this is pretty awesome. Dress your child as per the request! |
| Wow, that's not a big ask at all. Why can't you handle it? |
|
Ugh, those kids will be SO hot!
|
Maybe because it means purchasing clothing that will never be worn again? |
| OP I would have definitely ignored it because my child didn't own any dress pants or shirts at that age. I would have found some black athletic or fleece pants and a white t shirt. Maybe long sleeves. |
I totally agree. Parents like OP are the worst. This sounds so sweet. |
So what? It’s a special occasion. But / sell on eBay or consignment if a big financial issue (doubt this is breaking the bank if OP’s kid is at a daycare like this). |
| I can’t imagine the look on my preschoolers face if she looked for me and was the only one there without a parent. Seriously. Why don’t you want to go? |
| Sorry, I misread. You just don’t want to dress your child to match the cohort? It’s one day. If money for dress clothes is an issue, buy black slacks and a white t-shirt from Walmart or Target for about $10-$20 and call it a day. |
| Why does the daycare want them to dress like waiters? |
| Having a preschool graduation with caps and gowns is ridiculous! A graduation should celebrate an academic achievement. An end of year picnic, sing along, pool party etc would be so much more meaningful for the children. |
+1 I agree. BUT if they are putting so much thought into it, how about black sweats and a t shirt? |
