anyone know about the "Virginia Valor Fathers Day Fiesta" or the "FPYC Fathers Day Tournament"

It must be very lucrative for Valor to continue to embarrass themselves with this tournament every year.

Did Valor trick any international teams into coming here this year thinking it was an elite tournament?

I noticed this year they aren’t calling it an all star tournament… just a recreational tournament. I wonder how many teams ar actually doing it. Most people are ready to move on from spring sports. I would not want to deal with a tournament on the first summer weekend if it wasn’t at least some kind of all star team.

Its because they couldn't get enough All Star teams previous years, so they ended up having extremely stupid brackets, like an SYA U14 All Star team playing a CYA U13 regular rec SFL team. A lot of people also complained that they paid for an "all star tournament" but their kids all star team only played uncompetitive games against random rec teams scrounged up at the last minute.

Remember the story of the regular CYA or SYA rec coach whose team didn't win a game all season who was tricked into putting his team into the tournament (because Valor couldn't get enough teams to even have brackets so they were desperate enough for teams to lie to coaches). Then they lost the first day of games like 30-0 and the coach just quit before the next game, like he just didn't show up and kids were wandering around confused.

Its a truly terrible event!

Trophies shaped like tacos would be awesome.

I think they give out medals shaped like Mexican hats here. *cringe*

International teams to a rec tournament?

FFS let the rec kids have some fun. At least the weather looks decent this year.

The overwhelming theme of this thing is that the rec kids don't have fun, b/c the event stinks. Travel parents aren't complaining on here about it--the complains are all rec parents.

Because the greedy losers from Valor who run it don't see any difference between regular rec teams and all star rec teams. They just want to hoover up everyone's money and they just throw all the teams in the same bracket regardless of age of team or all star-ness and have epically uneven games.

My dd played on an LS team in that Valor event last spring before she moved up to club. It SUCKED. There were no levels becuae they only had a few teams total and their team crushed everyone. Not bragging! it was just a waste of time and not fun for anyone.
Better tournaments have levels so that doesn't happen. And the medals were insulting to the rec kids, basically, joke medals implying that rec soccer tournament is a joke. My daughter was embarased of it and threw hers in the garbage.
It was a piece of tin shaped like a mexican hat on a string. I kid you not

LS way overchargers for rec all stars anyway and then to get that crap tournament for what we paid was just beyond the pail.

Hey genius, how do you create levels in a rec tournament outside of age/grade?

Hey genius, the Herndon and FPYC tournaments do it. You ask the all start team coaches what level they should be at, or you sort them thru mini games on Saturday. Its not hard, actually.

Valor's issue is no one wants to play in their tournament, so they have to lie to SYA and CYA rec teams to get enough teams to even have a multi-year bracket.

It was absolutely the rec team all stars. It was all the coaches' kids and their best friends.
