“Philosophy and Religion”?

Anonymous
I know Jeff wasn’t open to making changes to the the Religion board in the long thread where a religious person tried to argue atheists were unwelcome in religious threads. However, I’ve been thinking that changing the name to include “philosophy” might be more inclusive and representative of the discussions. I definitely am against any segregation of believers and non, because I personally enjoy hearing the different perspectives.

Just a thought.

I think people can talk about philosophy there.

I just don't get the people who are glaringly disrespectful of others' views. There is no need for that.

I know. There were TONS of disrespectful, negative comments on the “kids & no god” thread. Poor Jeff had to remove them all.

Religious people have long stopped responding to threads that are clearly meant to portray believers and certain religions in a negative light. We now stick to religious for religion topics only. There is a very clear intent to insert atheism and other philosophies into Religion forum. It won't work. You'll only get others that are like minded responding to you. Sometimes, I think that's the only purpose of this forum anyway.

You want to ban atheist topics from the forum? Why?

I don't. Most religious people have deserted the forum. It seems that was the intent among those hell bent on not leaving the Religion forum alone. I and other believers now stick strictly to religious topics.

Just curious by what you mean by "believer." Believer in Jesus.....believer in G-d......believer in the benefits of religious practice....all of the above?

But it’s an anonymous forum, you can participate any thread that looks interesting!

Yeah, but I get so many attacks launched at me in the politics forum (I'm a moderate conservative, which means I'm called a racist and idiot) that sometimes I'd like to take a break and participate in a forum where I'm not insulted all the time.

YES! I completely agree, OP! It would indicate that the forum is more inclusive, and that it's a place to discuss various beliefs, whether theological or philosophical, which are very intertwined anyway.
