I just used Roundup for the first time and I'm not proud

I couldn't take the weeds, they were winning. I feel guilty but every year I pull weed but this year the weeds exploded. I got overwhelmed. I hope my neighbors didn't see me spraying the hell out of my yard.

I used it once on a corner of my yard that was infested with ivy and poison ivy. It was 9 years ago and I still feel guilty

Yeah I gave up too when I realized that my years of hard work did nothing and were losing the battle. We couldn't afford to resod. Luckily once you get amazing grass growing, all you have to do is pick a few dandelions every season and you don't need chemicals.

Good job poisoning the ground because some green plants were less pleasing to you than other green plants!

Diluted white vinegar. But it kills everything, not just weeds. Good for stone patios and gravel paths.

Borax solution

To treat 1,000 sq. feet:

10 oz. Twenty Mule Team Borax
dissolve in 4 oz. warm water
then dilute in 2.5 gal. water

What is the vinegar to water ratio?

It's bad for bees and linked to cancer. Most of our neighbors don't use it anymore except for some older folks. It's been discussed on our neighborhood listserv.

Roundup is fine. But I hope you didn’t spray your yard with it because it kills everything. You should have used 2-4-D.

. By the way, I should maybe mention I am a Harvard educated farmer. Evaluating the evidence, I still use it occasionally. But 2-4-D is a much better broadleaf killer that will let the grass thrive and is inexpensive. If you have an issue with briars you will need something like ForeFront.

20 pounds of preemigetent weed killer on grass

I got weed loving neighbors with hundreds of weeds in lawn.
