Your local public school - guaranteed to be a heck of a lot better than where you're coming from! |
Jesus: "Employees at the Whittle School's D.C. campus were officially given notice July 12 of their termination, according to interviews with five former teachers and staff members and an email obtained by the Washington Business Journal. They are still missing three paychecks: from Feb. 15, when parents sent money via Venmo to temporarily cover some salaries, as well as from June 30 and the first part of July until the school closed, according to the former teachers and staff members, who requested anonymity for fear of negative repercussions on their current or future employment." |
|
"As of Friday, the school had not acknowledged the D.C. campus closure on its social media pages or website, which still had active links to apply for local enrollment."

Remember this, less than three years ago when CW was saying this and most of the world was believed him" Wonder what lessons are being learned by students in this momen?: Backed by nearly $700 million of operating and real-estate-related capital, we have gathered a global consortium of hundreds of educators, architects, artists, technologists, and other experts. By the time our first campuses open, we will have collectively planned every aspect of our school—five years in advance. Such forward thinking is unheard of in the annals of Old School history. Here is the blueprint for Whittle School & Studios. In the fall of 2019, our first two campuses will open, in Shenzhen China, and Washington, D.C. By 2026, we plan to expand to a system of 36 major campuses in the world’s leading cities. Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop of Genoa, Italy, each campus will have 600,000 square feet and serve approximately 2,500 students, ages three to 18, with about 160 students per grade. Roughly 60 percent will be day students, and the remaining 40 percent will be weekly and full boarders. At capacity, Whittle School & Studios will be a highly integrated global learning community with a faculty of more than 10,000 serving more than 90,000 full-time, on-campus students as well as hundreds of thousands of other students joining us part-time, either virtually or on campus. We see schooling as everything students experience during each moment of their time with us, and we believe that lessons are learned in every one of those moments. |
You know, this is a really interesting point. Anyone want to chime in on the neighborhood/ ANC and other hoopla created when ANY other school in the city tries to modify or expand in any way? We all know it's a painful process that involves appeasing many constituencies. The tie to Bowser is a new thought to me, but why not? He blows into town with big dreams, promises and cash - what politician would turn that down? |
Not to mention all of the school’s hired leadership that had to have been blinded by dollar signs to ignore Whittle’s miserable track record of lying. No one involved had good judgement or common sense. (Yes, that means the new Maret head as well) |
A pipe dream for sure. Chris Whittle is a greedy old liar who pretty much ruined the prospects of many high school students who were looking forward to returning to Whittle School and Studios. We pulled out before any damage can be done. No one should do business with Chris Whittle because he is the type of person who stiffs people unless he gets sued by them for non-payment. That is the case with Sunny Varkey and remember, Chris touted his friendship with Sunny and how they were going to merge their school networks. Turns out Sunny had sued Chris for not paying back money owed. |
Are you going private or public? |
