So it was only "a year"? So literally only 12th grade, beginning right around the time she was applying to Questbridge? That's not suspicious or anything. Who paid for 12th grade tuition at her private school? Where did she live her senior year?

She got a full scholarship from the school her senior year. This is not disputed.

Her biological family has money but if they are not willing to pay for college, that means nothing. The foster care system was supporting her, not her parents. Her parents may have continued to pay for the private school or she got financial aid, but she still qualified based off foster care. Would you prefer she not go to college and live in a homeless shelter after getting kicked out of college?

Many kids embellish for college applications. Its not right, but it happens.

She earned those degrees.

If foster kids are given free college, why did she apply for QuestBridge? To help connive her way into Penn? To me, this whole thing is looking like a carefully orchestrated ruse to scam your way into an Ivy and not cost Dr. Mum a cent. And my bet is the top college on her QuestBridge list was Harvard. But I bet Harvard smelled this B.S. from a mile away.

My husband is on the board of a private school, 100% full scholarships don't exist internally.

No, it was not a year. She was hospitalized in September of her junior year in high school just after she turned 17, and was removed from her mother’s custody to foster care after more than 3 weeks in the hospitalized. She aged out of foster care when she turned 18 the following August. So she was on her own or in foster care for 2 years.

Why are you asking posters for the basic information about this case when the information is readily available, some of it even linked from this thread. You are apparently expressing opinions and outrage about a situation for which you are uninformed. Makes no sense. Get informed, then post.

My son-in-law has been on the board of an independent school. Since this school values diversity, they make generous financial aid available to some students. The fact that they are independent schools means that there is no policy that is uniform from one to another.

What does your single private school have to do with anything?

Read Penns report. Read the Rhodes report. The scholarship is not disputed either by Penn or Rhodes, your random husband's board seat notwithstanding. Honestly. Try reading.

And I think Fierceton was deceptive. But let's deal in facts here and the fact is she was given a scholarship that covered her school.

Where did she live in 11th grade and 12th grade? Who paid private school tuition in 11th grade and 12th grade?

It's all a bit suspicious she "entered the system" on the eve of being too old to even be eligible for the system, which just happened to be on the eve of applying to colleges and the most extravagant U.S. college scholarship programs.

DP. For God's sake, go read the court filings and educate yourself. You sound like a ignorant idiot.

Someone is working overtime to try to "prove" that the fraud girl is right and Penn is wrong. Good luck with that.

Of course no one here is required to read anything here. But the fact is that if you post things like this without being informed and you make baseless claims if fraud, you look like an a$$. He was trying to help you with his legal analysis, but I guess some people are just beyond help.

You think a ruthless striver like this put Penn at the top of her QuestBridge list? No chance.

Why not? They are generally given free tuition to a state school.

Mom abused her and kid was in foster care. A decent rich parent would have fought to get her out.

Some states allow kids to stay in foster care until they are 21.
