DD’s friend is following inappropriate people on insta

Anonymous
I was checking DDs phone (I have her password and she knows that I will check randomly) and I saw that one of her good friends, which happens to be a boy is following some very inappropriate people on Instagram (older woman that are half naked). DD is only in 6th grade and so is friend. Should I tell her since I don’t think she knows and ask her to unfollow him? What concerns me even more is that I think they like each other. WWYD?

Omg who cares!!! You can't control what someone else's kid looks at on social media. How exactly does this even possibly impact your daughter and why should she unfollow exactly?
Stay in your own lane.

I would remind myself that while it might be good parenting to spotcheck your kid’s social media use, helicoptering her friends just makes you a busybody.

She is staying in her own lane.

She is asking if she should have her daughter unfollow the boy.

Yes. Op, that is a good option.

Yes, and tell the parents. I would want to know.

Why should her daughter unfollow the boy simply because of accounts he follows? That's not even logical.

Who says they don't? Now you're the annoying parent making them justify what they let their kid do on social media when it doesn't even affect yours!

My ds was following someone who was “liking” inappropriate pics, so his explore feed was full of nearly naked pics. When he unfollowed that friend, it all disappeared.

You parent your kid.

OP can decide what kind of online socialization and relationships are acceptable for her elementary school kid.

Sure it does.

That kind of thing normalizes over sexualization of elementary and teen girls.

It also teaches young men that girls and women exist to be objectified.

It affects all of our kids.

So an 11 yr old boy likes pictures of half-naked women? SHOCKER.

It is now time to give your daughter her first talk about porn, and why it's unrealistic and in what ways. Let HER be the one to say to the boy "You know, women who pose like that have fillers in their face/boob implants/Botox, etc."

But leave the boy alone. This is today's version of a boy putting up a picture from the Sports Illustrated bikini month on his ceiling.

This is one of many reasons that many people don't allow instagram for tweens (in addition to the fact that Instagram itself has age restrictions for those under 13).

6th Grade us too young for instagram.

Okay, I get that you want to monitor your kid's social media, but you're looking through the following list of HER friends? What?
