Now that's funny. |
He’s appointing a regent from the afterlife? |
Well then you're a more evolved person than me. I will readily admit that I'm following this story out of sheer curiosity about one of the most famous people in the world. Sorry not sorry. I've always been a royal watcher, even though I'm opposed to monarchies. It's just interesting to a lesser person like me. I don't believe in the conspiracy theories, and it's alarming that people here will take the word of some random person on Twitter as gospel. I don't wish anything bad for Kate. But this story is particularly intriguing because of how KP is mishandling the public relations aspect. This latest story in The Sun is another example. It's almost certainly planted by KP. No "onlookers" were quoted by name and not one person took a photo on their phone, which would command a six- or even seven-figure sum if sold to press?! (And even if the British press didn't run it, such a photo would be in demand by publications worldwide.) This mean KP is doubling down on the charade. The backstory may simply be that Kate is looking unwell during her recuperation and not willing to be photographed and picked apart by the public. BUT this is a case where the cover up has become the bigger story. If you read about the BRF, you'll know that their primary goal is to endure. They are well aware that other European monarchies, with whom they were intertwined, have been toppled. They are not above PR -- to the contrary, public perception is a critical, guiding, ongoing focus. This is why the BRF has been focused on modernizing and being more relatable while at the same time preserving their station. This is a PR crisis for them. It will probably be overcome in time, but it's interesting to see how it unfolds. |
It is. Are you a knowledge worker, PP? |
My theory is that Charles was undergoing treatment to reduce a tumor before his operation. Camilla knows she'll really be needed after the operation, so she went on vacation now. It seems like the kerfuffle over the big announcement with maybe a regent will be for the period of the operation and recovery. Just my two cents. |
It is being bumped on purpose. We get it. |
I fully believe it and posted about it last week. It’s a policy of chaos. They are all over the political thread and I notice some responses in regular parenting threads as well. |
I have never cared about royals and would not have noticed if she took a year off, but the deception with the photo has me hooked on this story. |
Jeff has said before he had found no evidence of Russian disinformation agents posting on DCUM. |
I've actually wondered if The Princess Party that posts incessantly here is not Russian powered. |
The pics were real but from a 2023 vacation. |
Same. I'd say my pre-photo interest in the royals was mild and entirely for fun. I have long enjoyed looking at the fashion. But I barely followed the whole Harry and Meghan thing. To me it was on par with most celebrity gossip -- a way to pass the time in a waiting room or on a plane, can be fun to chat with friends about, but not something I take seriously or think about almost at all the rest of the time. The photo incident really grabbed my attention because I can't remember the last time a high profile public person did something that strange, press wise. I don't buy most of the theories about it (she's not dead, why would they hide this, and the divorce/affair rumors are all pretty ridiculous-sounding) but I am very curious to find out how that screw up happened and think there might be some kind of underlying scandal. Thus watching and waiting to see what it is, if anything. |
Directly, no. But posters have literally been posting the rumor that Charles has died, for pages. And it is not true, it's clearly nonsense. But people keep posting it. |
What would be the point? I’m very informed about the troll farms and disinformation but I don’t see the point here. There really are people who think that royalty aren’t humans with human flaws and take offense to any insinuation that they are. It’s bizarre when their dysfunction is so clearly on display generation after generation. |
