| Our boy is almost 15 and has to shave daily. He hates it and says no one else in his class have to shave regularly (if he misses a day, he gets serious shadow). How old were your boys when they started to do this? It seems young. Thank you |
| My oldest started shaving in ninth grade. He is now a senior who also hates to shave. He sports a pretty decent beard most of the time. Does your son have a good electric razor? |
| I think my son (16.5 yrs) shaves his "mustache" twice per month. He can grow maybe two hairs on the rest of his face. He probably won't be able to grow a beard until his 20s. |
| Just turned 19, in college, once a week and that is for just some barely there scraggly facial hair. |
| He says an electric shaver doesn't get a close enough shave. He is in 9th and miserable about having to do everyday. He is embarrassed too b/c no one else seems to have to shave so much |
| Our 15 year old freshman also shaves daily and also hates it. Not his entire face (thankfully), but what I can only describe as his sideburn area/cheeks. |
| Why do they have to shave daily? Dh is 30 and shaves every 4th day. He has a very full beard and the scruff looks good. Movie stars all have scruff. |
Some schools have rules against facial hair. |
OP's son is not a movie star, and a lot of us think scruff doesn't look nice but shows poor grooming habits. Grown men should either have a beard or shave regularly. Movie stars! I am sure even these movie start shaved if they were 15 and among the only kids in HS to have a full beard. Plus there is a big difference in look of a mature scruff and teen scruff! I see so many teen boys at DD's HS, and I think what a really difficult time appearance and behavior wise that must be for boys. |
| My 15yo freshman isn't shaving at all. He's just starting to get that fuzzy dark stuff above his lip. |
|
Op here: he wants to shave everyday bc he is embarrassed. He wants to look clean cut, but it just seems to grow back constantly. He is miserable bc it gives him
Bumps too... |

NP here. I do not have a teen. I am male. I probably started shaving around 15 or 16, honestly I do not remember. At 18, I wanted to grow a beard, but waited until I went to college, then stopped shaving.
I know people that do not grow hair profusely. Some do not need to shave daily even in there 30's. Me? If I go more than a few days, I have a full beard. So, it really depends on your genetic makeup.... |
| For the bumps have him try tend skin. |
