Still struggling. I have osteoarthritis everywhere. I am better on the days that I can go to water aerobics and then the hot tub. However, nights and early morning are the worst. I can’t take NSAIDs anymore, but they were key prior to that.

Allergic to NSAIDS so I'll never get messed up organs from using them but then again, I get zero medical treatment. In my area we've had two older women who got medical aid in dying for osteoarthritis. I figure that's my future when the pain gets too much. The media didn't question why you had to get "put down" for arthritis but that's the way it went.
Older women are particularly disposable is what I see. With restrictions now on painkillers we basically have no options. If you look at the arthritis society website it will have nothing but NSAIDs, mindfulness, supplements and stuff like yoga as treatments. It's the only illness I know of where they actually suggest a pile of useless supplements that are basically placebo as first line options. But it's more an illness for old women who aren't important in health care is my guess. |
| After cutting certain foods out of my diet by doing Whole30 I had a significant decrease in pain. |
| Following an anti-inflammatory diet helps me with pain, too. |
| Tramadol was a game changer for me. And most doctors are still willing to prescribe it. If they stop, I'm going to start using marijuana, legal or not. I'm not going to suffer for no reason. |

OP here...after a few days of glucosamine feeling a bit better, I know the xtra weight ain't helping so working on that too, wishing I were 25 again where losing weight was so easy and nothing ached smh

You're on the right track OP. Supplements, weight loss and antiinflammatory diet. (There used to be one posted on the arthritis.org website. It included avoiding foods such as potatoes and tomatos ) Exercise in a heated pool is very effective as well.
Nightshade vegetables: Tomatoes. Tomatillos. Eggplant. Potatoes. Goji Berries. Tobacco. Peppers (bell peppers, chili peppers, paprika, tamales, tomatillos, pimentos, cayenne, etc) I had hip and knee pain which improved dramatically when I lost 20 lbs. Losing as little as 5 lbs can have a very positive impact as well. I don't even take glucosamine anymore. Good luck OP Many people swear by "golden Paste". If you are interested in another option, google it. |
