Lockdown at Bancroft

Just got a tweet from Ward 1 Education that there was a lockdown at Bancroft but has been lifted. I'm presuming everyone is OK. Does anyone know what happened? All of these school shootings have gotten me jittery.

There was also a shooting at 14th and Upshur.

Per a MPD press release Powell and Roosevelt were put on lockdown as well for a time.

Oyster-Adams had a lockdown last week also

Yes. Neighborhood near the school. Not an immediate threat to the school.

As did Dorothy Heights (charter school next to Bancroft swing space). Really shocked the news didn't pick up on this, with 4 elementaries, a high school, and I presume a middle school all on lockdown. The lockdown at Bancroft lasted 1.25 hours, and the kids were terrified. Took me forever to calm my daughter down last night.

And there was a shooting this morning at a school in Maryland. When will our country rise up and say that daily school shootings are an unacceptable price to pay for unfettered gun rights?

I did see a news van in front of Roosevelt, but why is this really “news” worthy? Aren’t you subscribed to news alerts of some sort. No one was injured or killed.

That's different though. Many of the lockdowns talked about upthread are related to simple police activity in the vicinity. What happened today is an actual (horrible and terrible) shooting at the school.

I heard a parent was caught in the crossfire and barely missed getting hit -- bullet hit an empty carseat.

That sounds pretty crazy and upsetting, and newsworthy.

OMG! Imagine if that carseat was occupied? Thank goodness it was not.

Was there any news coverage? I'm only finding the Maryland shooting. Would really like to know more about what happened near Bancroft.
