is it normal for kids to throw things at their pet?

| We visited our in laws this weekend. Their kids, ages 7-14 kept throwing balls and sticks at their dog. not hard, the dog didn't seem to mind, but it still bugged me. I don't have kids yet, but is this typical behavior? |

| No. Not at the dog but to the dog or away from the dog for the dog to chase. |

| To clarify, they were using the dog as target practice. the dog was basically laying down ignoring it. |

Wow, big no for me. Even if the dog doesn’t appear to mind, they should still be corrected and stopped. |

| No, and I'd have said something. I can't stand animal abuse. I don't care if the dog was so used to it that it ignored that. Animal abuse is never okay in my eyes and if I'm there for it, I'm going to raise a fuss. |

Yep. This dog will bite someone some day and it will not be the dog's fault. Hopefully one of those kids are the ones bitten. And I'm not a big animal lover. |
