Castaway Cay was our favorite part of the cruise. The biking, the beaches, the walks, the water activities.
What AI resorts would be most like this? No interest in Beaches. Don’t need any characters and kids club would be nice but not a requirement. Our kids are 10 and 7 and like hanging with us on vacation. (Barely used the Disney Cruise kids club.) |
| ^^^to clarify, we are very interest in beaches, just not “Beaches” resorts. |
| I haven't been to Castaway Cay but what you describe is every all inclusive resort in Mexico and the Caribbean. Is there something special about Castaway Cay that I'm missing? |
Not the OP but I think what's nice about Castaway Cay is that it's not only a private beach, it's an entire private island. totally self-contained and the only people there are the people from the one cruise ship that is visiting that day. It's really lovely but it's such an escape that I'm not sure a resort that's surrounded by other resorts and people can have the same feel. (disclaimer: I have not been to any "land-based" all-inclusives except Club Med in Florida and while it's nice... it's just not as magical as Castaway Cay. |
| I think OP just hasn't traveled much. |
Have you been to castaway cay? I agree that would just vacation there, too. |
| The Maldives |
OP here. I've actually been to a fair amount of the Caribbean (Anguilla, St. Maarten, Jamaica, Aruba, T&C, St. Thomas, St. John, and the BVI.) I agree that the beaches at Castaway Cay, while lovely, can easily be found many places. I'm more looking for specific resort recommendations. We stayed on Grace Bay in T&C and took beach walks in front of Beaches All Inclusive. It was NOTHING like Castaway Cay. I guess I'm picturing all AI's like that. |
| I remember looking into a place in the Florida Keys somewhere that was like that - let me try to look it up! |

It was this place, I think...but it looks like it's only partially re-open after the hurricane.
