I just turned fifty!

I can't believe it. Any tips?

It definitely feels a little strange - it sounds so old. I feel like I should be turning forty, not fifty. That being said, I'm in a great place in my life - great husband, kid, job. Parents still alive and healthy. So I feel very fortunate, if a little stunned at really truly being at the upper end of middle-aged!

Welcome. 50 and over ain't so bad... You can't see, you can't hear, no sex, aches every morning, going regular is blessing... Other than that, life is (still) great!

Turning 50 beats the alternative! If you are in good health and stay fit you'll be fine though some aches and pain will be apparent. Maintaining an active sex life also really helps.

Yeah, I'm 62 and I don't feel like it. It's very weird but I think it's just a different attitude towards aging these days. People used to expect to feel bad about aging but some of us don't! Welcome, OP!

I try to ease myself into milestone years by thinking of myself as “around” that age before I get there. I’m right behind you, OP. We’ll be in great company.

How is that true? They got the wrong girl!

You are now ready to know the secret of coconut oil.

Welcome! It isn't so bad especially if your fellow 50 year olds are young at heart. Thanks to a few fun friends leading the way I'm kind of excited about empty nesting and being able to travel off-season and entertain at home on the weekends. Last kid heads to college this fall so it will be a huge change but a new adventure too. Stay fit, drink a lot of water and enjoy this time!

And I'm FIFTY!

Gotta love Molly Shannon. Isn't that skit the best part of being 50?

Happy Birthday, OP! 50 rocks! You're old enough to not give a damn about what anybody else thinks, and do you own thing for your own sake.

I am rounding the corner to 51 and I took my 50th birthday as a time to get in better shape and honor my hobbies and interests. I’m just emerging from the tougher parenting years where it’s all about the kids.

No it’s way more about me.

I took up hiking, biking in organized rides, kitted up my camera bag and got out there more, and I’m now taking CERT training (community emergency response team).

I’m about to sign up to get a GIS certificate at a local college in September.

As long as I feel fit physically, I’m really enjoying 50 so far.

Truth. Happy birthday, OP, and many more to come!
