When do your tween/teens go number two?

Currently in middle school with four minutes between classes and kid is endlessly getting in trouble for needing to spend 10 minutes in the bathroom during class. They send Security down to come get him. We are just not very speedy in this department. Unfortunately his usual time seems to be sometime after lunch and it’s just causing trouble at school. There doesn’t seem to be any time in the morning for this luxury as we are trying to get up and out the door. How have others dealt with this issue?

First off, I have no clue when he shits. Why would I even know this? Anyways, he should not need 10 minutes. Just because you need 10 minutes, does not mean he does too. Tell him to hurry up and go back. 10 minutes is too long. He is playing around or walking super slow.

Feed him more fiber, make sure he's drinking a lot of water.

Give him really bulky food for a late night snack (popcorn, shredded wheat cereal, oatmeal) and hot chocolate (or even coffee!) at breakfast, give him enough time in the morning. Like, up for breakfast at 6 am, eat it all, drink something hot, THEN take a shower quickly and hopefully by 6:30 ready for his morning dump.

Get him a squatty potty.

Does he get to take his phone when he goes to the school bathroom? If so, that’s why he’s taking so long.

I don’t know when mine go, but I do know if I see them walking to the bathroom with their phone in hand, it’s going to be a while.

I now have a “no phones in the bathroom before school” rule so that everyone moves at a normal pace instead of a checking phone pace.

My 16 year old shits the second he gets home from school. I know this because he tells me so. He says the bathrooms at school are disgusting and he refuses to use them. Also, he stinks up the bathroom.

I stopped keeping track when he traded his Pull-ups for big boy underwear. I do know that he tries to avoid going at school because he's mentioned it once or twice.

In high school I did not have to s*** on premises twice in four years, and both of those times were prior to sporting events. Squeeze that stuff out in the morning even if you need to get up earlier to do it. On the plus side, your kid is on track for a govt career. Potty breaks can take up a third of the day there.

As a mom of elementary school age kids, I was really hoping and am happy to hear that the answers to the question would be "I don't know".

Good grief. That is one question I will never ask! ( unless there was a problem and then they would tell me) YIKES!

+1 DH will be in the bathroom for half an hour if he has his phone with him. Sometimes I shut off the modem briefly but leave the wireless router on so his internet connection won’t work. Magically he’s done pooping within a minute or two and is out checking the modem and router ASAP.

Ugh. The second I announce dinner is ready and the rest of us sit down, DH disappears to shit for 15 minutes. Annoying AF. We've had discussions about it, but he says he just doesn't know. I tell him to go at work so he's paid to shit.

I have on in middle school and one in high school. One goes in the morning the other right after school. The morning goer eats a better diet, gets up earlier and HATES the bathrooms at school.
