I think stopping blaming Langdon for her issues is a crucial part of Santos's growth. It sounds like even Garcia is tired of her talking about him. |
Oof, I missed that. That is insurance fraud. I still find it morally defensible (Monica has shit insurance because she got laid off by the hospital when they went digital and eliminated her position, and Dana is just trying to keep the ED humming) but yes it's riskier than having Mohan write the scrip to Monica directly and it's not ok to pressure Mohan into doing it either. I sincerely hope that doesn't block back on Samira, she's really being piled on right now. |
Ok, but balance here. She shouldn't blame Langdon for ALL her issues, but it's okay for her to be mad at him for (1) stealing drugs from patients, (2) lying to her and gaslighting her about it when she astutely figured out it was happening, and (3) making her first day on this job even more traumatic than it was going to be anyway based on what else happened. Those are valid reasons for Santos to be angry at and resent Langdon, and he DOES owe her an apology and explanation. He's not the whole reason she's struggling at work, but he's also not an innocent victim here. They need to talk to each other and both take accountability. |
She has every right to be mad at him. Where she F-ed up is letting that get in the way of doing her job properly. That puts people in danger and is not ok |
I don't see this. Yes she was unprofessional in the trauma room with Langdon but Al-Hashimi was there the whole time and backed up Langdon. And Langdon *is* partly responsible for that dynamic. He broke Santos' trust and he has not done what he needs to do to earn it back. He should already have spoken to her before they were on shift together, in order to avoid that specific situation. Blaming that dynamic entirely on Santos, the person who it turned out was 100% correct that Langdon was stealing meds and was an addict, doesn't sit well with me. Santos isn't handling the situation great, but let's not all forget that the entire situation was created by Langdon in the first place. He has responsibility here. |
| What the bell does Garcia see in Santos and vice versa? They both seem like b@tches! |
|
People's memories are awfully short on Langdon.
Also Santos is correct that he should have been fired. Had Robby reported that Langdon was not only stealing pills from patients but also tampered with an Ativan vial and filled it with saline and then resealed it to cover it up? That is serious business -- he would have been fired and lost his license. Likely the hospital would not even be allowed to retain him after that for insurance reasons. Robby and Santos have problems and both are being PITA but people need to get that Langdon screwed them both and is getting his second chance, whereas both Robby and Santos are struggling right now and everyone is mad at them. Not condoning their behavior but putting it in perspective. Langdon stole drugs from patients, lied about it, yelled at and belittled Santos on her first day at work while gaslighting her about the drugs he stole, then lied to Robby. And they both wound up protecting him and now he has his job back and a fresh start, while Robby is clearly having some kind of mental break down and Santos feels like she doesn't have a friend in the world. It's not all Langdon's fault. But it's also not NOT Langdon's fault. It's complicated. |
I am smugly going to claim my win - I called it. 16:07 on March 9. |
I think she wants what most parents who see their children as an extensions of themselves want - more prestige, success, money and respect for their child, which in turns bolsters their own prestige, success, money and respect. |
I think it's likely Mohan's mom is having some kind of medical or mental health issue. She has called Mohan like 400x. We have seen Mohan speaking to her at least once, maybe twice, earlier in the shift? And she's still calling and has even called the emergency line in the ED. Despite having just talked to her a few hours ago. Either she's have some kind of mental health issue that is causing her to compulsively call Mohan to continue the argument about Mohan maybe/maybe not moving to New Jersey, or something has gone actually wrong since she last spoke to Mohan and now she's trying to get in touch with her for a real reason that requires Mohan's immediate attention. I'm guessing the former but I think we are supposed to start suspecting the latter because all the calls are getting out of control. If my mom called me that many times in a day, and especially if she called multiple numbers in my office including one intended only for emergencies, and it turned out she wasn't having some kind of mental or physical event, I would be so livid. that's just unacceptable. |
I admit I know zip about hospital administration, but I find it kind of surprising that you'd have the guy on probation supervising/having authority over the person who put him on probation. |
Oh whoops - I was focused on Javadi at the end of the PP's sentence and was talking about Javadi's mom here. I don't know what Mohan's mom's issue is. |
I think the show is kind of explaining this as an oversight/screw-up -- Langdon wasn't supposed to come back today but they were short staffed so he got scheduled. Robby is leaving and wants nothing to do with Langdon, so obviously hasn't done anything to help onboard him or set up boundaries or best practices, or discuss how this is going to work with both Landon and Santos, as well as any other impacted staff. That's what a good boss would do but Robby is not being a good boss right now and also views this as not his problem anymore. Meanwhile Al-Hashimi seems like the sort to do all of that, but she only just started. It's also unclear how read in on the situation she is. She knows Langdon was in rehab and is returning, and she knows about his program, but does she know Santos was the one who reported him? Does she know he was stealing meds and that Santos figured it out when she discovered the tampered-with vial of Ativan? Al-Hashimi seems both emotionally intelligent and highly ethical, so it's hard to see her not taking an extremely hard line with Langdon if she knows those details, and perhaps being more sympathetic to Santos and understanding of Santos' behavior towards Langdon. Anyway I agree with you, it's ridiculous that Santos is in this situation and that it hasn't been addressed directly by attending and by Langdon himself to absolve her of the situation (she was correct and Langdon 100% needed to leave and get help when he did -- Santos is abrasive and hard to work with, but in this situation she was totally in the right despite being discouraged by Garcia and intimidated by Langdon to stay quiet). She shouldn't be put in a situation where she's taking orders from Langdon until it's addressed and resolved satisfactorily. And yet... The ED is very dysfunctional this season. A lot of weirdness and BS going on. It's a really stressful, unpleasant work environment despite having a lot of talented, kind, terrific doctors and nurses working there. |
| Who’s watching the baby??? |
I'm sure they have someone sitting in there so she's not alone. It doesn't make sense to spare a doctor or RN for that because you just need someone monitoring her who can call for help if needed, and feed and change her. Dedicating higher level medical staff to a healthy baby with a mild fever is a waste of resources right now. |
